Commercial Description:
Belle Gueule Pilsner is a unique blonde beer with a surprising touch of hops, brewed according to the tradtiion of the great Czeckoslovakian Pilsners. Its light, yet full-bodied taste is the result of a long unhurried fermentation.

Draft in Quebec City. Maybe it was just the fact that this was the first beer after a long day of travel, but it struck me as quite lovely. Pretty boring pour, pale yellow with a white head. Aroma and body were strikingly sweet, medium-bodied and possibly a bit soft on the palate. Crank up the carbonation a bit and they might have something going here.

341 mL Bottle sampled Dec 24, 2009. Straw body with a frothy white head that settles to a tenacious ring leaving some lace. Aroma of sweet light malt, floral, slightly grassy, a faint innuendo of pear. Flavor is sweet light malt with notes of green grapes, pear, and a faint innuendo of banana. Hops say "hello" in the aftertaste without being too intrusive. If the smell of fresh produce at a farmer’s market had a taste, this is how I could describe the finish. A good beer for the money.

Bottle. Pale golden low head. Light straw aroma. Light papery base, spicy a hint herbal hops. Boring.

Tap. Very pale golden colour. Flavour is very light. A bit of straw and pale malt. Light sweetness and a bit of lingering light breadiness. Very simple brew. No real hop character is apparent.

I had a Czechvar, the classic pilsner at the same time to compare... Belle Gueule has no "handsome face" after the serious beating it got here. A lot of efferevescence, lighter color, displeasing notes of commercial beers, light hopping. I’ll avoid this pils... They shouldn’t compare this products with Czech pils because it is shameful for this business.

341ml bottle in Metis-sur-Mer, Quebec. Straw with a rapidly fading white head; reasonably bitter and full flavoured with a slightly sour finish. A pleasant summer beer to dirnk while sitting on the terrace watching the sunset.
