JCW (1262), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jan 27, 2004 This is an oldie that I'm having. Brown color no head. Aroma is very fruity and sweet. I had eldberries grow behind my house when I was a kid and the flavor reminds me of it. Raspberry too! Like a sweet summer wine. Sweet finish. I liked it! RichardGretton (3128), Leicestershire, England Jan 24, 2004 Reasonable dark amber beer with a very fuity strawberry aroma and a fizzy on the palate slightly bitter strawbery flavour. Overall a good lambic. Earlier Rating: 5/12/2003 Total Score: 3.7 Pale amber/reddish beer with a light strawberry aroma. The flavour is mildly bitter strawberry. Overall a good fruit beer. Sully (1367), Woolloomooloo, New South Wales, Australia Jan 17, 2004 I am happy to have made the correct decision in pouring this into a flute glass. The head formation is clean and long lasting above the expected rose coloured beer. The tart rasberry nose is a welcoming start and when tasted the pleasant flavour comes through with a hint of dry hoppiness. This is a thoroughly refreshing beer, and while being more like a light wine with fine spritzig it is eminently enjoyable. Muggus (193), Sydney, Australia Jan 12, 2004 Smells of tart raspberries. Lovely aroma. Pours a clean ruby body with a golden tinge to it, light tan head atop. Sweet raspberry with slight hop action on the tongue, but not really strongly flavoured. Quite sour, with a foamy kind of mouthful with just a touch of bitterness and dry after feel. As with the Kriek, I feel like i'm drinking a wine rather than a beer. None the less, a very nice drop. Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark Dec 29, 2003 Nice large creany head on a clear copper colored body. Nose of sour raspberry. Flavor is sweet raspberry with a nice bitter dry finish. I really like Belle-Vue Lambics because they are not as sweet as most others but more sour and bitter! DanielBrown (1919), Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, England Dec 29, 2003 Bottle, from Waitrose, Marlborough, Wilts. Fruity, slightly tart, but deeply pleasurable aroma. Sharpish, fruit gum flavour, which levels out as strawberry/raspberry, with a softening metallic finish. Sherbetty sparkle, alternating with cake - hoppy on your tongue. Thin mouthfeel, little carbonation. Relatively complex - better than Belle Vue's Kriek, and my favourite Framboise overall. Trogdor (193), brisbane, Australia Dec 23, 2003 Updated: Feb 6, 2004red/rose with nice medium head that holds for a little while in the flute it was served in befor dying down a bit. rather subdued berry flavours compared to the kriek and a bit of a tart/dry finish. I was a bit disappointed with this 3 y.o. after having tried the kriek. worth a try if you want a more subtle berry flavour than the kriek. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 27, 2003 Pink-tinted peach body with a thin head and mild carbonation for a lambic. Aroma of raspberries, roses, and leather. Flavor includes some botanical qualities and woodiness. Mine seemed surprisingly dry compared to other reviews. Soft and mild palate. A perplexing beer with widely varying reviews. Seemed decent and enjoyable to me. Then again, this follows shortly after the Sam Adams Cranberry Lambic that I had last night.
