Fruity, slightly tart, but deeply pleasurable aroma. Sharpish, fruit gum flavour, which levels out as strawberry/raspberry, with a softening metallic finish. Sherbetty sparkle, alternating with cake - hoppy on your tongue. Thin mouthfeel, little carbonation. Relatively complex - better than Belle Vue's Kriek, and my favourite Framboise overall. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 3, 2005 my bottle has the continental label: "la becasse" and features the elusive eurasian woodcock. the bottled bird burst the bounds of glassy confinement with a sticky drench of angry foam. once corraled into proper glassware, the brew glistened like a copper alembic, proudly polished, with a fog of opacity and a faint blush of lipstick rouge. just a sniff of the aggressive tartness causes salivary glands to pucker. it’s a cookie-crusted tarte aux framboise with both the soft pine of fresh kindling and a note that recalls milk chocolate. great fruit basket sweetness balances with tartness, it’s full-flavored on a cool, refreshing, wine-like body. it tastes like granny smith apples and wild raspberries, with a doughy wheat-like sweetness that dries by seeming to trickle over raw lumber-- the living lambic that dwells beneath. not as lovely as a lindemann’s, but a great change of pace beverage. Smooth and fritzy ... classic to style. I won’t drink it, but the chicks will. grat (433), ST. Louis, Missouri, USA

There must have been a crappy batch out or a bunch of folks who had never had a lambic before to have it have been rated so poorly. POurs a nice mirky amber toffee color. Nose is excellent notes of cherries, balsamic vinegar, leather, nectarines and even a hint of milk chocolate...ha you say it was in there all right. On the tongue the palate is excellent. Not cloyingly sweet but sticky nonetheless. Notes of hazelnut, cherries, raspberiies, and horse blanket...ever so lightly. Excellently sour on the forefrton refreshingly sweet on the back end. A good offering.

Pours a clean ruby body with a golden tinge to it, light tan head atop. Sweet raspberry with slight hop action on the tongue, but not really strongly flavoured. Quite sour, with a foamy kind of mouthful with just a touch of bitterness and dry after feel. As with the Kriek, I feel like i'm drinking a wine rather than a beer. None the less, a very nice drop.
