MatKool (64), Canada Aug 16, 2005 Full marks for an amazing cherry appearance and thick pink head! That was the only real distinction in this fruity brew as the overall taste paralleled a carbonated cranberry-cherry-soda drink. I was hoping for a more full bodied taste... Magicdave6 (5400), London, Greater London, England Aug 9, 2005 Could have and should have been far better. Dixen (1465), Flagstaff, Arizona, USA Aug 9, 2005 Sweet nose of cherries, and some light acidity. Dark red body, medium off-white head. The cherry flavor is quite artificial, some light sourness. mj (4973), Colorado, USA Aug 6, 2005 Updated: Apr 11, 2006Very nice rich and clear dark red color, couldn’t ask for a better color from a kriek, though I prefer to see them a little cloudy. Aroma is some creamy sweet candy cherry notes, flavor is similar, but light overall... the palate is slightly peppy, soda-like, and thinner than prefered. OK at best, basically I wanted more depth than just a one-dimensional cherry candy flavor. beerguy101 (3861), Newark, California, USA Aug 5, 2005 Corked bottle. Deep glowing red color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is sour cherries and sweet cherries. A medium bodied kriek. Tart and sour cherries flavors predominate. Light carbonation. Touch of candi sugar and peppermint at the finish. Sour cherries flavors is consistent throughout the beer. Very enjoyable drinking kriek. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. lilannie (383), State College, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 5, 2005 Aroma: very sweet cherries, like cherry syrup, some plums, bubblegum, and fruit loops
Appearance: deep red with some dark brown tones, pinkish head, lacing
Flavor: sugary-sweet cherries, like cherry pie, minerals
Palate: little thin, cherry pie aftertaste DrunkAsASkunk (847), Lynnwood, Washington, USA Aug 3, 2005 This beer comes courtesy of beerguy101 and once again a big thank you!! This kreik pours a deep glowing red color with a super thin white soapy head and little lacing. The aroma is ALL cherries with a hint of cherries, topped off with cherries and alluding to some sour cherries. Flavor-wise we’re talking very full bodied, unbelievably smooth and toned down with a silky cherry mouthfeel. What I found incredibly interesting was how the heavily carbonated crisp front of cherries mellowed into a pepperminty spicy finish which bit the palate slightly but not enough to dry the beer out and make it undrinkable. Something of a candy sugar sweet finish. Both tart and sour, yet sweet and smooth. Superb balance and precise funkdification! The balance Belle-Vue acheives is damn good....the ratings here surprise me...you must try a fresh bottle. Fantastic! ryananderson (74), Ontario, Canada Aug 1, 2005 Updated: Oct 6, 2005Aroma is light hoppy and slightly musty but dominated by sweet cherries. Light pink mostly lasting head of average size. Colour is ruby red. This beer looks much better than it tastes. I find the flavour overly sweet without enough sourness to balance. I think this beer should be more carbonated to mask the heavy sweetness. Undrinkable
