JorisPPattyn (5155), Antwerpen, Belgium Feb 3, 2005 37.5 cl bottle Dark red with brownish shine; huge, fine bubbled pink head with fine lilac lace. Wet dog, woody and faint fruity nose, getting more fruity and syrupy with time. Restrained fruity taste. Sweet, but not too overtly artificial. Woody notes, and again this "wet dog" - this time flavourwise. It IS a bit meaty-estery. Cherrydrops finish. Medium bodied, slight slickness, finishes a bit cloying and fizzy, giving it a metallic compound. A few of the "artisans" brew much worse. It has no Brett character, no sourness, no lively fresh fruit. It is sweet, but not exaggeratedly so, it is not synthetic. It’s just lame. And the kriekenlambics from the pipes at Henegouwenkaai were so good, once... Hendo (110), Sint Anthonis, Netherlands Jan 30, 2005 I understand that this is one of the ’industrial’ lambics, but it isn’t a bad tasting beer at all. If anyone knows of ’real’ lambics out there PM me :) rederic (1787), montréal, Quebec, Canada Jan 26, 2005 Copper-red hue, with a pink foamy head. Sweet cherries even shade of raspberries with shy oaky note lambic in the aromas, follow a medium-bodied of sweet cheery note in the palate with a mild tartness and a shy acidity on the finish. A mild kriek lambic for the none-initiated asheft (1374), Marburg, Germany Jan 26, 2005 Clear brownish ruby with a rocky, white head that dissipates rather quickly to leave some lace and iceburgs. Musty and sour aroma with lots of cherry. Flavour is a woody cherry with some medicinal taste. Good balance of sourness and bitter, but a little too sweet. Through all the cherry, I could actually detect some malt in this lambic. Medium body and not enough carbonation. A bit off balance. Garrat (1132), Suffolk, England Jan 24, 2005 From A Bottle.Dark blood red in colour, big head, sherry trifle aroma.Sweet cocktail cherry flavour. MillStreetMan (152), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 23, 2005 Man, this is sweet. Tastes almost like sour cherry juice or something. It’s not necessarily a good beer, but drinkable, especially when on tap. I was horrified when a guy in a bar actually ordered a float made with this beer, but I guess I can see where it would possibly work. It is more like pop than beer. jimlintott (13), Canada Jan 20, 2005 I tried this because I like to try new things. It was quite pleasant and refreshing but not really my cup of tea. I’d prefer a nice dry red wine. It is hard to rate as a beer, it tastes quite nice and I enjoyed it but likely wouldn’t bother with it again. highlandlad (1258), Sydney, Australia Jan 18, 2005 Colour of muddy shiraz and pours with a big Creamola Foam head. Sour cherries and cloves in the aroma. Smooth-bodied and sweet at the front and middle, with a big sour cherry finish. Thinner than most lambics. It has a poppy, lemonade-like texture. Some alcoholic strength in the middle but little depth. An easy drinker, sweet but a tad bland. (Bottle)
