AlphaOne (142), Australia Apr 12, 2004 great pink ruby hue, with a slightly pinkish head. aroma is sweet, added sugar? definate pleasant cherry and woody aroma backed by a tart acidic smell. once on the palate the cherrys again, with some other dark fruit, plums and dark grapes i think. Woodyness again in the palate but i think it may be from the cherry seeds more than the oak barrels. Slightly tart, but not as tart and dry as i had expected from a lambic, i expect there are sugars added after fermentation to make it more palatable for the general public. MrManning (1634), London, Ontario, Canada Mar 31, 2004 Bottle sample- Pours a light pink head, with a dark ruby red body. Smells like sour cherries and sugar. Taste is bitter, fruity and refreshing. Nice sharp bite on the tongue and throat. A definite pleaser. skaughty (621), Marietta, Georgia, USA Mar 29, 2004 On tap at St. Alexandre pub in Quebec City. Poured deep cherry red with a matching aroma. The scent led me to belive this was going to be too sweet. Upon tasting, I was pleasantly surprised of the balance between sweetness and tartness. It wasn't as cloying as Lindemans, or as raw as Cantillon - good stuff. I'd imagine multiple pints of this might get to the cloying stages, so this mught be best to begin or end an evening. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Mar 13, 2004 Bottle and cork labelled 25 and caged. This lambic formed a medium sized ivory head that was frothy with fine-small sized bubbles that mostly diminished. The body was uncarbonated and somewhat hazy with a reddish brown hue. The nose was fruity, sweet and cherries. The flavor was sweet, a little acidic, sour, tart, tangy and cherries. The mouthfeel was tingly and this was a medium bodied lambic. thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Mar 12, 2004 Corked labeled 25 and caged, this brew poured a large head of foamy very finely sized off-white colored long lasting bubbles that left behind a excellent spider web lace. The body was semi-opaque hazy and dark brown colored. The aroma is all cherries and malt. The mouth feel is tingly and smooth like a wine cooler. The flavor contains dark cherries and malt. A nice brew, but I still prefer the Lindemans. Boutip (2332), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Mar 8, 2004 Bottle – Poured a medium reddish brew with a nice foamy head with good retention. Aroma of cheery is extremely dominant. Body is medium with good carbonation. Taste is very accentuated by cherry with some tannic on the background. The cherry taste might be a tad too juicy for my own taste. This beer lack a bit of the sourness usually founded in lambic but overall this is still a very good beer. Spiesy (2333), Global Citizen, Greater London, England Feb 28, 2004 Bottled. Deep mahogany colour with lots of red sparkle. Thin islands of head isolated in the middle of the beer. The same jelly-baby notes on the aroma. You’ll have to see silk for a better description. Brought home from Bordeaux. Earlier Rating: 10/4/2003 Total Score: 1.9 Draught, at the De Hems, Soho, London Red body with a pink head. Sweat strawberry aroma. Leads with a sharp red fruit flavour. This beer was hard work, especially by the pint. The palate is long and generous but not for me. Fruit beers are a crime. JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Feb 28, 2004 Rich ruby red colour with an interesting pink head. The beer itself is crystal clear. Fairly prominent yeastly smelling with lots of sweet cherry fruit. There are obvious notes of cinnamon and allspice. Plenty of cherry flavour that has a nice spicy finish. Although the beer is quite sweet, the finish was dry enough to prevent it from seeming cloying. Nice.
