IPFreely (1470), Lewiston, New York, USA Dec 27, 2003 Ruby color, pink head. Lighter sweet cherry aroma, some woody elements. Syrupy sweet cherry flavor, was cloying and artificial. Not very good. Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 27, 2003 Weak cherry aroma. Slightly sweet & woody. Ruby red clear with pink lacing head. Med body with med-high carb. Weak, watery cherry flavored beer. Light hops & weak finish/after. OK but not a great kriek. JMerritt (1313), Macomb, Illinois, USA Dec 27, 2003 Dark amber bordering on brown. Tight, white head is large and lasting, leaving behind full sheets of lacing. Sour cherry aroma has hints of oak. Flavor is not strong of cherries, surprisingly. The fruity sourness is there, but comes off as slightly artificial and medicinal. Bitter woody finish is a little off. Not overly carbonated, which is nice. Still, I've had better lambics. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 26, 2003 dark mahogany colour. Fizzy, carbonated head. Smells like sour cherries. Tastes like sour cherries also, slightly bitter aftertaste.
It didn't really taste a whole lot like beer, but it was quite interesting. jfm (1694), Holbæk, Denmark Dec 17, 2003 Reddish brown color with a pinkish head. The taste is sweet with fruits and cherries. Finishes slightly bitter an unpleasant. Trogdor (193), brisbane, Australia Dec 14, 2003 Updated: Mar 6, 2004sweet cherry aroma.
rocky pink head and deep red colouration.
sweet, slightly tart cherry flavours.
thin, dry palate, finishing sweet and juicy.
sweet, refreshing apperitif. DanielBrown (1919), Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, England Dec 9, 2003 This is one of the beers that changed my life, and got things started. I tried it from a bottle in the Hogshead, Birmingham, and couldn't believe that something so fruity and exciting could actually be a beer. As an Interbrew product it now seems like this is becoming the Coca Cola of fruit beers, and I'm not sure it is the most complex, or subtle kriek in the world. But by crikey, it's still a top class piece of work, which brings back happy memories, and experiences which I am keen to repeat whenever possible! The cherry flavour is rich, without being over powering, and it is sweet without being sickly. Great colour too. Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark Dec 7, 2003 Updated: May 22, 2004This is one of my favorite Krieks. It has a nice dark red body. Nice bitter cherry flavor (most Krieks are more sweet than this one but I like the bitterness!) and also a good bitter and sour aftertaste.
