Doppelganger (1353), Dry County, Arkansas, USA May 27, 2008 Bottle, from Noel Cuveliers, Abele. Ruby pour with fine just-pink head. Lightly tart cherry jam aroma, angel food cake. Softly tart wooly bite, cherry candy, sweet but not overbearing.
I can’t hate beer like this, much as I would like to. It’s not a work of genius, and yes, it’s an insult to the subtle beauty of a proper lambic. But...it’s kinda fun. It’s like the Burger King® of the beer world: not really food, but resembles food in a way that is itself kind of interesting. MIBRomeo (1962), Wisconsin, USA May 18, 2008 not very good at all.. not worth the notes.. my note on the back of my bar coaster simply said this:
Pours red, tastes bad. note666 (282), Eindhoven, Netherlands May 9, 2008 bottle 300 ml. nice red colour. the smel is a bit sour, not as sweet as i expected. taste is also more sour than I hoped ... radagast83 (1272), Fairfax, Virginia, USA May 4, 2008 Sampled from can at Belgian Embassy in DC. Pours a dark red with a pink head. Aroma is cherry. Flavor is sweet, cherry with a touch of tart cherries. It’s good, but I can imagine that it would be impossible to drink more than one at a sitting. ofey (29), Doncaster, Australia Apr 24, 2008 To me , this is a sentimental favourite. It’s sweet flavoursome opening gives way to a sour aftertaste. I would say the tapped version is alot better. tomciccateri (496), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA Apr 23, 2008 On draught in Antwerp. Pours a clear dark red color, slight white head and lace. Big cherry aroma and flavor, mostly sweet cherry flavor balance, slight late sourness. Dredd (484), Ormond, Australia Apr 17, 2008 Cherry/Raspberry rock-candy aroma, pours lurid red with a pink foamy head that leaves nice lacing.
Flavour is a hoot, sour cherry all the way with a slight tapering at the end to a slight sweetness
Nice, but certainly not a sessional beer.
cheeta (858), Langå, Denmark Mar 28, 2008 Heavy malty and fruthy aroma, cherry. Huge, frothy, pink head. Good lacing. Fully lasting longevity. Clear, pink body. Heavy sweet and bitter initial flavor, with a long sour finish duration. Light to medium, watery palate.
