Red but slight brown around the rim, as you would find with an aged red wine. Cherry, to be sure, but changes in the mouth to suggest strawberry and raspberry. The sweetness really hit my mouth a bit hard--a bit artificial to that extent. (on tap, Lowlander, Drury Lane, London) badgerben (3600), Blaine, Minnesota, USA

Ordered the unidentified kriek off the hotel room service menu for kicks just to see what would be sent up. No surprise, this stuff is everywhere in Belgium. Deep rose color, light pink head, nose of sour cherries. Flavor matches, but a little too sweet for me. No real funk here. Fun, but not serious. JoeMcPhee (5000), Jackson Heights, New York, USA

Fairly prominent yeastly smelling with lots of sweet cherry fruit. There are obvious notes of cinnamon and allspice. Plenty of cherry flavour that has a nice spicy finish. Although the beer is quite sweet, the finish was dry enough to prevent it from seeming cloying. Nice. Commodore (112), Ontario, Canada

Smells of cherries (a little sour). Taste is the same, but not sour like lemon juice. It was fairly sweet with a champagnesque effervescence. AlphaOne (142), Australia
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 12, 2004 great pink ruby hue, with a slightly pinkish head. aroma is sweet, added sugar? definate pleasant cherry and woody aroma backed by a tart acidic smell. once on the palate the cherrys again, with some other dark fruit, plums and dark grapes i think. Woodyness again in the palate but i think it may be from the cherry seeds more than the oak barrels. Slightly tart, but not as tart and dry as i had expected from a lambic, i expect there are sugars added after fermentation to make it more palatable for the general public.
