Bottle, 6.8%. Very fruity aroma, sweet and malt syrupy. Almost clear dark red red brown colour. Small stable tan head. The flavour is sweetish, fruity, yeasty. Has some malt syrup flavour, but not as sweet as the aroma suggests. Tastes a bit like homebrew, but not bad.

33cl bottle from Dranken Geers. Deep ruby brown, thin dark beige head. Little bit musty on the malts. Decent enough, some decent malt fruit, bit of dry malt too. Not too interesting though and still a bit musty.

Sampled at brewery. Ruddy chestnut color, off-white head. Fairly toasty-malt nose, bits of caramel and toffee, and a touch of roast coffee. Real malt backbone there, not giving in to a fruity Belgian yeast. Flavor ducks excessive sweetness but stays malty, like chewing on the husk of Crystal. Gets a touch cidery with a little bready sourness, which is character most welcome. Good flavor, and very drinkable. Really a damned nice brown ale.

Bottled. An amber beer with a tan head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, yeast, and spices. The flavor is sweet malty with light notes of burnt plastic, leading to a dry bitter finish.

33cl bottle at home, iRate: Pours a deep chestnut with a tall frothy, fading tan head. Dark malts with some roast and caramel highlights. Touch of simple sugar and some hops. Nice green earthyness to the hop character. Alcohol mixes nicely into the mild roast. Flavorwise the roast seems to run away. Dark sugar with light raisin and caramel. Some herbal notes ride the sweetness for a while. A bit too simple in the middle with brown sugar and not much else. Ends sweet with some caramel and a drop of cherry juice.

(33cl bottle) Hazy, mahogany colour with a beige medium-sized foamy head. Discreet aroma: moderately sweet and sourish berry-fruity, slightly toasted malty aroma with notes of caramel and ashes. Slightly sweet flavour with a touch of acidity, medium to light bodied with a rather smooth carbonation. Slightly yeasty and toasted malty taste, slightly ashy with light notes of caramel and a spicy touch (anise); sweetish and slightly toasted malt-accented finish. No, its not extremely balanced nor particularly clean, just because it is from Belgium (24.II.09).
