Aroma of caramel, toasted malts, dough and citrus and grassy hops. Taste of caramel, sweet malts, citrus hops. Thick and malty but decently balanced.
At Three Cellars tasting Bell’s Brewery night. Cloudy amber with thin off white head. Caramel malts and mild citrus in the aroma. Well balanced with a nice caramel malt start and a medium bitter finish. Decent beer. (7/4/7/4/13)

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 26, 2008 bottle from Mark. Slightly hazy nice mid tone amber. Modest carbonation and only about a quarter inch head, still nice lacing. Plenty of sediment in the bottle. Some yeast and malt odor, slight tones of cheries, and pinappeal, b ut mostly sweet malt. The carbonation tends to dominate, but it does have a nice malty finish. bhensonb (4336), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 25, 2008 Bottle. Aroma of hop over caramel. Amber color with a huge, frothy white head. Thin to medium body with very mild carbonation. Flavor is kind of bready with fruity/floral hop. Finish is more dry than sweet. Seems more like an ESB, but perhaps the bitter is inadequate for that. Pretty good, but seems bland. Barring the 6% it would be a good session beer. Skeegle (496), Maryland, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 25, 2008 Updated: Apr 7, 2008I really like this one. I can’t help but note that the smell is particularly bad though. I bought a sixer of this to try it figuring it’s hard to go wrong with Bells, but when I uncorked it I thought I made a rotten investment (I usually sample in singles unless I know the exact RB score). But I shouldn’t have doubted Bells because they haven’t let me down yet, and was happy when I slid some into my mouth. Extremely crisp is an understatement--both the carbonation as well as flavors are lively but not bloating, making for a super ripe and refreshing beer. You really couldn’t ask for more palate-wise. Just a perfect Amber ale. mgoy (343), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 21, 2008 12oz bottle. Simple toasted bready malt with some toffee and earthy and grassy hops on the nose. Pours a bright copper with a thin white head. Toasted bready malt with some grassy and hay hop notes on the tongue. Lively, crisp and wholly inoffensive, just not too much going on. shanepardue (107), Raytown, Missouri, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 17, 2008 12 oz bottle, pours a rather hazy, turbid amber with a large, billowing and long-lasting yellow-cream colored head that leaves good spotty lacing. Aroma features clean malts with some caramel character coming through, balanced with a touch of citrusy, floral hops. A bit soapy. Nice balanced flavor; dominantly sweet, but clean, with light caramel tones and just enough hop bitterness. Finish is very slightly dry. Mouthfeel is on the light side of medium, with moderate prickly carbonation. Relatively smooth and clean. Solid; nice session beer.
