On tap at BW3’s, downtown Indianapolis. Feb 2005. Dark brown with little head. It has a smooth mellow presence of malt and dark fruits like raisin and plum. There are definate barley wine characteristics in this beer. The flavor is round with brown sugar/molasses and a roasted malt playing with a moderate alcohol presence. A very nice beer, I’ll have to pull one out of my cellar in a couple more months and re-rate. 7-3-8-4-17=3.9 Rerate 2/19/06 A bottle that has been in my cellar since I bought my first 6 pack. Pours nicely, greaty creamy head. Round, chocolage, boosey, piney, earthy, maple, oak, vineous, tannin, molassses, dark fruits, walnuts, sweet, liqourice, alcohol. Those are what I got from this wonderful barley wine. Everything in this beer works so well together. The aroma is really what you expect an aged barley wine to smell like. There is a mix of piney bitterness, sweet bready malts, and a bit of alcohol. Any harsh bitterness that may have existed when it was young has mellowed and come into perfect ballance with the great malt sweetness and the welcoming alcohol tang. A little over two years old and this beer is top notch.

Poured a reddish amber with a thin head. Aroma was big and sweet. Very malty with caramel, sugar, and dark fruits. Flavor is big and malty with a big hops to balance and a nice bitter finish. Thick and full bodied. I have had this beer a number of times and thankful I have a bunch more. One time was at a beer and cheese tasting and it was paired with a mustard cheese tasting (called dragon cheese I believe) and it was amazing.

#350 Bottle courtesy of Wohlfs originally. Beerhandy sent two more I can cellar. Thanks to the both of you. Pours dark brown syrup with no head. Big caramel and molasses aroma. Flavor is the same with a littlle hoppiness and some spice. Has a little warming from the alcohol. Very good overall.

12 oz. bottle. Black pour with small head. The aroma is quite hoppy. The flavor is also quite hoppy with enough malt to balance. The darkness in the color is coming through in the flavor with some roasty & chocolate flavors. This makes it quite an interesting barleywine like no other I have had. Great beer. Thanks Go Brew!

Pours a cloudy dark red color with chunks of yeast floating around. Decent creamy off-white head that leaves a sticky lacing in my glass. Sweet candy like citrus aroma, sweet roasty caramel-grapefruit flavors, nice balanced and complex, full bodied with a sticky thick resiny creamy mouthfeel, nice lasting bitter finish, awesome.

Tap at Blue Nile in Minneapolis 2/16/05. Rich chocolate amber color with tan head, holding nicely. Aroma of spicy and dark winter baking fruits. Mouthfeel is velvety smooth with enough flavor bite to keep you paying attention. Cloves, anise, pepper, chocolate malt, caramel/ butterscotch bits. Clean finish. The alcohol is never tasted. Fantastic.

Rich malty aroma, earthy and mossy. Very dark brown with a thin head. Quite thick and alcoholic up front. Malty profile with strong tastes of raisins. Alcoholic aftertaste. Very good.
