Drnk_McDermott (1517), Park Forest, Illinois, USA Dec 15, 2003 Draft; Map Room, Chicago. Ah, Batch #6000 for my beer #200. I like the symmetry. I like the beer. It's a devil in a glass, and it's barely aged yet. Big alcohol smack in barley wine fashion. Smoky, thick, and with a big whisky nose. And plenty hops, too.
Miver (292), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 12, 2008 12 oz. bottle thanks to Axilla for sharing. Poured hazy brown in color with a medium sized tan head. Aroma of toffee, caramel, and hops. Tastes of grainy malts, toffee, and molasses. The hop character is still present, and comes in at the front end, fades a little and returns in the finish. Smooth easy drinking barleywine. StoutCat (65), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jul 6, 2008 Caramel brown with no head. Sweet caramel aroma, matched in flavor with additional notes of dates and honey. Very nice beer. mreusch (425), Olathe, Kansas, USA Jul 2, 2008 12oz. bottle, with a giant thank you to sloth for the rare treat! Pours a nice burgundy color with a two finger creamy tan head that lingers, leaving behind a good coating of lace. Aroma is super nice, with toffee, caramel, dark fruits, brown sugar; sweetly malty. Flavor comes on strong, with more sweet malts, dark fruit, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and some hops bitterness on the finish. Smooth and tasty, this is my kind of barleywine; sure wish I had a case of this in the cellar. Thanks again for the chance to try Bert! mcbackus (562), Merritt Island, Florida, USA Jun 8, 2008 bottle: pours a dark cloudy caramel colour, good head still that is creamy and tan in colour. aroma is a small bit cheesey but also full of grain and some caramel malt, dark fruits of dates, and no hops to speak of, terrific flavour is great full f grainy malt, small roast adn a good caraeml, fantstic and smoooth so glad i fianally got to try this one joekinty (154), rockledge, Florida, USA Jun 8, 2008 Drum roll please rate 100 First of all I would like to thank god my mother my fans and friends for all the wonderfull beers and support on my journey.
