Aroma was chocolate with raspberries and cherries, also hit with alcohol. Drinks like a meal with chocolate, alcohol, fruit and hops. I had picked up only one, but I think I’ll have to go get another to keep around for a while. wintersdying (49), Louisville, Kentucky, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 8, 2006 Low profile choco brown head. Retention is short lived but rouses back up easily. Raspberries and chocolate aromas leap out immediately as does a bit of bandaid, though it,s kind of interesting, not a bad thing somehow. Blackola colored brew. Body is just large, aggresive, not creamy or as silky as expected but still kool. Big and roasty chocolate flavors, black patent (?) with a massive hop bill. C-hops galore make their presence known as this puppy warms, blending well with the over the top malt bill.12% alc. ? Fairly dry finish is lucious and fruity. A ager indeed. Man, Bells can brew some schweet Impys ! Many thanks to Saint Sprinkle(Secret Santa) for this bottle and one to age. Also like to thank Mr. Facto for another bottle to stick on my shelf for future consumption. jsquire (2113), St. Marys, Ohio, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Jan 7, 2006 Out of the 12 oz bottle. Dark beer with a thin, brown head that shrunk to a lasting ring. Very complex brew. Raisen, other dried fruits and hot hops in the nose. This beer tastes young, and I bet will improve for the next year or two. Very hot on the tongue. Lots of dark fruit, hair spray, caramel, orange rind, chocolate, and an almost grassy finish. Very nice beer, that will only get better. hotstuff (3176), Indiana, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 6, 2006 Bottle at rating session in Naples, FL with flemdawg. Tan small head that quickly dissipated, poor lacing, no visible carbonation, opaque, and a black hue. Aroma was roasty malts, choccolate, coffee and some raisin. Flavor was malty, roasty, coffee, chocolate, and lightly bitter. Tingly palate. Medium body. Thanks flemdawg! Zeswaft (1000), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 5, 2006 Aroma is dominated by alcohol. Pours from the bottle thick black with thin brown head. First few sips are full of alcohol. As it warms up it gains some chocolate aroma and flavor, maybe also because my buzz is coming back. Texture is very thick. I had an Expedition Stout last night and it tasted pretty much identical to this beer. However, I remember that one tasting more alcoholic and less chocolately than the Expedition stout I had a year ago. sprinkle (114), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 5, 2006 Nice lingering deep tan head and lace that sticks like a snail trail. So black you can’t see through. Sweet roasty malts, slight mint, chocolate and slight alcohol on the nose. Rich and thick mouthfeel, bitter chocolate upfront, roasted malts and a little smokeyness. Long lingering finish, lips stick together from its sweetness but is definatly balanced with just the right amount of hops. scraff (1954), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 4, 2006 Vicious black pour with a thick fizzy deeply tanned head. Nose was super complex and quite intense with rich notes of french roast coffee, mocha, evergreen, crème brule, grapefruit, and currants, with a light smokey undertone. A Batch 7000 Yankee candle should be contemplated. Powerful tastes that practically mirror the aroma with added notes of pan-seared toffee brittle, smoldering wood, black chocolate, berry, and earth. Motor oil thick body and slightly syrupy, medium carbonation, charred bitter finish. Congrats to Bell’s on creating this masterpiece. Thanks for the bottle Hopscotch.
