Drnk_McDermott (1504), Park Forest, Illinois, USA Jan 14, 2008 Bottled. Rating #1,400!! Sure smells like a wit, but looks more like an abbey dubbel. Dark orange body under a thin head. Not wit hazy, but swirling with the usual galaxy of Bell floaties. Taste is indeed of a slightly spiced up dubbel. Coriander is there, and the orange. But I say the malt has its own orangey character, too, with caramel malts lording it over the wheat base. Kind of rough right now, despite the label’s suggestion, this might settle with a little age. May need to test this against the 2006 Wheat Love. Found this at Tenuta’s in Kenosha, Wisc.
railcat1 (465), Hammond, Indiana, USA Jul 1, 2008 This was a spicy wheat ale with a fluffy white head and had a fruity flavor with lots of different things going on,the alcohol was well hidden and it was a refreshing beer.CHEERS! daknole (480), Plantation, Florida, USA Jun 30, 2008 Nice dark amber pour. Aromas of spice and malt. Flavors are all over the palate. Spice, honey, malt, sugar, dried fruit...man what a crazy brew. Nice, but kinda crazy! kibble48 (14), Kettering, Ohio, USA Jun 28, 2008 This beer is insane, its full of different flavors that almost difficult to figure out from each other. Its good but was a little bit too much going on at once. santoslhalper (160), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 28, 2008 Thank you to Naka for the bottle Cloudy gold body sits beneath a thin but long lasting white head. The aroma is chock full of spices and alcohol vapors. Some sweet bubblegum, taffy, incense, ginger, clove and banana notes as well. The taste is full and creamy, but still kind of hot. The spices only add to the burn in the chest. The wheat is very obvious, with banana, bread, and spicy notes. The phenols from the Belgian yeast seem a bit overboard given the intense spicing. I appreciate what they were trying to do but I think this beer is just a bit too much for me. aoa56 (10), zeeland, Michigan, USA Jun 25, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours deep orange with a white head, with a mild spice smell. First impression is a honey flavor, followed by a light spice and a clean finish. Good summer at the lake beer.
