durhambeer (397), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jun 28, 2008 Bottle from Sam’s in Durham. Poured a small white head on top of a bright light golden body. Went out on my porch for two minutes and the head had all but disappeared. Just a few thin wispy nimbus-like streaks floating atop and a microbubbles around the edges. That was a disappointment, though Bell’s has never carbonated their beers all that much. Anyway, to the smell and taste... minimal aroma: grain and minimal Saaz. A little metallic. Similar taste, though the hops hit hard and nicely bitter, ending crisply if a bit metallic. Solid summer quaff.
mar (568), Dallas, Texas, USA Aug 28, 2008 bottle thanks to kosko20. pale yellow almost a light gold pour with a thin white head. lots of spicey malts with a nice soft hint of hops. rather thin with a huge bitter hop/malt finish. emacgee (1033), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Aug 28, 2008 Pours a soft pale gold with some haze. Nice carbonation. Head is about one finger thick and white. The aroma is sweet and bready, mostly on the malt side, some grassy hops. Has a prominent hop bitterness in the flavor, more dominating than in the nose. A bit chalky, kind of astringent. Leaves a piney hop bitterness in the back of the mouth. Beerman6686 (680), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 23, 2008 Poured a light to golden yellow with a big white head. Aroma was grassy, some corn and a hint of hops. Flavor was pretty bland but nothing offensive. Not good, but definately good for the style imho. bhensonb (2861), Woodland, California, USA Aug 22, 2008 Bottle as "Lager of the Lakes" from Vintage Cellar. Brassy gold color with a slight white head. Aroma is rather bready, and I don’t get hop. Thin to medium body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is bitter over some light pale malt. Somewhat grassy bitter with a little spice in the end. Good lager. kp (6200), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Aug 18, 2008 Name: Lager of the Lakes
