Oct 7, 2008 My 150th rating :) In an effort to try all the bells beer before the year is out, I bought this as part of my pick six for the week. This pours a heavy brownish/red and has a lighter brown head. It’s aroma is subtle, with hints of chocolate, and licorice. The flavor is also subtle, but has notes of raisin, and a malty finish. It’s a smooth drinkable beer, with no "wow" factor, but I wouldnt complain if it were served at a party. Cheers!

Oct 2, 2008 Bottle. Pours dark brown with light brown head. Aroma of chocolate and malt. Flavor was well balanced with chocolate, bite of hops, and slight coffee undertones.

Sep 25, 2008 Bottle at Jerry’s. Dark brown with good, creamy tan head / Nose of roast barley and chocolate / Medium body, chewy, some acidity, and with balanced malts and hops and good finish / Flavors of roast barley, semi-sweet chocolate, nuts, and brown sugar / A good, solid brown ale.

Sep 23, 2008 12 oz bottle-pours a light tan head and copper color. Aroma is medium/dark malt-molasses/caramel, nutty, secondary earthy hops. Taste is medium/dark malt-molasses/caramel/chocolate, nutty, secondary earthy hops with some bitterness. OK carbonation.

Sep 20, 2008 12 oz bottle, got at Wal Mart! Pours reddish brown, with small tan head. Aroma of toasted malt/coffee, brown sugar, caramel, and nut. Very rich taste of malt, brown sugar, and coffee. Slightly heavy and rich, but very good. I’m a big Newcastle fan, and this is quite different, much more flavorful and complex. Great beer!

Sep 17, 2008 Easily the "best brown ale" I’ve ever had. Dark brown thick cloudy color with no head. Aroma of caramel and toasted malts. Tastes nutty, caramel, malts, some sugar. Very enjoyable!

Sep 5, 2008 Lightly roasted caramel malt aroma from the reddish brown body with a medium head. The palate is medium. Sweet malts with some nutty flavors start things off. Some yeast tastes follow and finish off the brew.

Aug 30, 2008 12oz bottle, courtesy of Kyle. Thanks! Pours a dark, clear reddish-brown color; light-tan head with fine-bubbled lacing. Basic dried fruits and brown sugar in the aroma; kind of bland. Medium mouthfeel: chewy brown sugar, toasted malts, and basic dried fruits; very drinkable, and lightly toasted (like me); pretty solid stuff, aside from the lax aroma. Medium finish: toasted malts, brown sugar, and touches of chocolate.
