Aroma is a little thin but it makes up for it in taste. Nice, smooth beer. I liked it a lot for the price. craftbeerdesign (760), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 13, 2009 bottle, batch 9382. pours a mixture of a deep copper and brown... light to dark from bottom to top with a perfect 1/4" off white creamy head which lasts throughout... you really can’t ask for a better appearance.... perfect. however, the aroma is lacking ... I get some lingering nuts and malts, but they are very distant. extremely smooth body... nice medium build with such a delicate presence over the top of the tongue.... smooth and creamy from front to back... the nuts and roasted malts take force beneath the cream filled top. an absolute wonder throughout the mouth.... there is a touch of bitterness on the top to back... nice roasted finish leaves the mouth. wonderful brown ale from Bells. darn1207 (588), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 13, 2009 12oz bottle. dark copper brown pour with a red tint to it and a sturdy medium tan head. nutty aroma with caramel, candied dark fruit and light citrus hops - understated, but nice smell. rich roasted caramel malt and oat taste. thin texture with faint carbonation that leaves a tingle. browns tend to be a bit much for me due to the overly sweet sugary taste - this one worked though. bells, as always, thank you. glkaiser (1171), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 12, 2009 This one used to be my fallback sixer back in college...god bless. Just an easy drinking brown ale with moderate roast and low ABV. Slightly sweet and just a hint of fruitiness. Solid as can be. gsmitty80 (650), Washington DC, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 12, 2009 This was a smokey brown ale. I don’t know if that is due to the Belgian malts or not. I was expecting a something a little lighter, but it was rich and thick. WVHouseofBeer (390), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 9, 2009 Poured a reddish brown color with a good sized tan head that left a decent amount of lacing. Good aromas and flavors of roasted malt, brown sugar, nuts, and toffee. Smooth finish. I wouldn’t quite call this the best, but definitely another tasty beer from Bells. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 8, 2009 Aroma of almonds, light cocoa and brown sugar. Appearance is murky brown with tan head that didn’t last long. Flavor of almond, brown sugar, molasses and toffee. Palate is bubbly and creamy. A good representation of the style, but nothing special for me.
