| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 31, 2007 Sampled via 12-oz bottle at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours a semi-hazy brownish amber brew with a thick off-white head that slowly dissipates and leaves behind some excellent lacing. Aroma of roasted nuts and caramel malt with a touch of citrus and grassy hops. Taste is smooth, medium bodied, light carbonated with flavors of light caramel malt, some citrus zest and a touch of pecans. Finish is smooth, creamy with a more malty aftertaste than any bitterness. wmubronco1992 (189), Coldwater, Michigan, USA

Nutty malty flavor. Nice mouthfeel. Not my favorite style, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Very smooth and extremely drinkable. Picked up a case of assorted Bells beers on my last trip to Kalamazoo. Based on this tasting, I’m wishing that I had a grabbed a couple extra of this one. f351c4v (408), Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 25, 2007 Poured from a 12oz bottle and served in a Bell’s dimpled mug. This brown ale poured a dark mahogany color with a thick, rocky beige head that displayed excellent retention. Solid lacing encompassed the entire glass. The aroma of the beer was made up of toasted caramel malts, notes of biscuit, walnuts, and also some mild chocolate. The flavor consisted of light roasted malt, caramel, mildly sweet notes of dark fruits, light chocolate, and some bready yeast notes. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with enough soft carbonation to provide a very smooth palate. A very solid example of the style. Well done.
