A nutty chocolate was also notable. The beer poured into the glass with particulates, but otherwise clear golden brown with a low off-white head which tried to lace the glass a little. The flavor was malty with chocolate and more of those dark fruits, once again on the light side, and a nutty and bready flavor. The bittering was just enough to keep the malt, including any caramel, in check. The finish was dry with lasting light bready/biscuity toast flavors into the aftertaste. The body was medium and the carbonation was moderate. A nice Brown ale, not your standard fare, but still a good pint. 12 ounce bottle. Batch 8156. A good porterish brown ale, though not the best out there. SavageElvis (134), Savage, Minnesota, USA

Aroma is bitter and sharp with sweet notes and some what funky. The flavor I get is bitter nuts with faint caramel. Alcohol evident and finishes dry. Seems to be a simple one dimensional brew. I don’t understand it, I was expecting a much better product. I will try it again and re-rate in a few weeks to if I got a bad bottle or I may be off tonight. vyvvy (2068), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 24, 2007 Pours brown (obviously) with an attractive soapy tan head. The aroma has lightly sweet toasted malt with some nuttiness, light spice and dark caramel. Medium / light crisp body with semi-sharp prickly carbonation. The flavor starts with toasted malt, thick nuttiness, spicy hops and just a hint of astringency. The finish has more hops then lingering rich British style brown ale maltiness. A decent brown ale. kseecs16 (907), Naperville, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 17, 2007 Bottle. Pours full brown with minimal off-white head that laces little. It is clear. Nutty caramel malt aroma. A touch bitter, dry with a nutty sweet flavor. Very smooth medium bodied with a lingering dryness. Skeegle (499), Maryland, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 17, 2007 For a brown ale this beer is very well done. It has lots of flavors as most browns do. Caramelly and nutty, with a bitter finish. It tastes parts of a pale ale to me, a little bit. Gobot (15), commerce twp, Michigan, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 15, 2007 This one’s better if not too cold. Not a traditional brown; there are some interesting things going on the malt and yeast that make for an interesting finish. chicagodri (1064), Chicago, Illinois, USA
