roasty malt aroma with a similar taste. Alot of things going on in this one for a brown ale. Very sweat, which I liked. This beer was great on cool late summer day. I’ll buy another 6 in the fall.

Bottle courtesy of dpjuart. Nice rounded malty aroma with neutral fruits. Nice grainy oatmeal mash taste, nutty. Light hoppyness. Sweet and clean aroma for a brown, with some nice caramel. Hazy medium brown with thin lacing head. Medium watery body with medium carbonation. Starts nutty with sweet malt. Caramel and chocolate, light molasses. Good tangy sour mash at finish. Light hoppy bitter finish. Dry nutty sweet after with a bit of smoke. Nice brown.

A rich, malty aroma that overpowers the hops, with a hazy appearance. Flavor is consistent from start to finish...with a real BAM effect at the end. In other words, this beer is as smooth throughout as advertised. More malt could be added for my taste. Overall, a very good Brown Ale as you’d expect from Bell’s Brewery

(Bottle via trade with <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=3 target=blank>shigadeyo, thanks Craig!) Nice beer but seems a little weak flavor-wise...Pours slightly hazy amberish brown with three fingers of rocky biscuit head. Nice malty aroma of brown sugar and vanilla. Mouthfeel medium full. Some patchy lacing. Flavor is on the sweet, lightly nutty side, some brown sugar maltiness. Light-medium bitterness all the way through and little extra hit in finish. Nice base of flavor but wish there was a little more of it.

Bottle: Nice chestnut brown color with medium size creamy white head. Great lacing. Aroma of hops, malt, and a little earthiness. Taste is sweet with maltiness and caramel , yet has enough hops to maintain some bite. A little woody and nutty as well. One of the better browns that I can remember to date. Thanks Eithcubes for the trade bonus.

Although I’m not typically a big brown ale fan this one offered up something interesting in a category that rarely sees serious entries. Light aroma of caramel and grains with subtle noble hops and a touch of fruitiness which is also duplicated in the flavor along with some nuttiness and roastiness. Mouthfeel is full but nimble and finishes clean and light.

12oz bottle my friend Liz gave me. batch 7765. Always nice to have a new beer for me from the geniuses at Bells. Pours dark reddish brown with a generous 3 finger tan head. The nose is very nice, sweet and malty. Tasty with nutty maltiness. This is a creamy drinkable beer with a lot of character, a bit of coffee comes through as well as a hint of caramel. This is a damn good example of how Bell’s can turn the average brown into something pretty damn tasty.

This is a smooth brown ale. I’ve had stronger but I’m not so sure Bells wasn’t trying to make this a more marketable/drinkable brown ale. The aroma hints are subtle but what is there is nice. Good beer!
