Bottle. Pours ruddy brown, lighter at the bottom. Nice little head that stuck around for a while. Smells of malt and nut and in the taste, a little hop and a little sweetness. Just okay on the palette.

Pours a cloudy brown. Hopefully bottle conditioned as some others have commented. A finger deep tan head that quickly disappears. Some lacing left on the glass. Caramel and butterscotch ore present on the tongue but I also notice a slight metallic flavor. Nice mouth feel. I would like to try a fresher sample of this.

12 oz bottle: An old stand by from my college days. I haven’t had this brew for at least a year so let’s see if it’s as good as I remembered. A rich malty, woodsy, and musky aroma at first. A bit of almond, some backing hop notes and overall a decent smelling beer. Appearance is a clear brown with a thick quite carbonated head that dissipates rather slowly. Taste is caramel, malt, toffee, and light nuttiness with some sweetness too. palate is rather sweet but not a sugar bomb. Overall, I have a soft part in my heart for this brew ever since I was living in Kalamazoo a couple years ago, but as a brown it’s pretty decent. I could drink a lot of these still.
