Pours a medium brown with a toasted head. Smells of malt, nuts, chocolate and barley. Beer laces mug very well. Taste is light, earthy with chocolate (not too sweet) balanced by nutty hops. Dry and balanced. I really enjoyed this well-made beer. Purchased a single for $1.50 at Whole Foods in Falls Church, VA.

12 oz bottle purchased at John’s Grocery in Iowa City, IA. Poured a hazy chocolate brown color. Head was off white with good retention and lacing. Aroma was subdued malty chocolate accented by attractive sprucy hops. Dry on the tongue with well balanced modest chocolate and citrusy hop flavors. Medium bodied. Great brown.

Somewhat cloudy, dark orange in color with small off white head. Awesome lacing all the way down the glass. Aroma was strong, full of berries and malt. Flavor was very nice, malty, with slight citric, fruity notes. Great to drink

Poured a caramelly brown that was slightly cloudy. The head was one finger, off-white and a little bit fluff. Decent lacing. The aroma was a bit on the thin side, a bit of roasted malt came through, but that was about it. The flavor was roasted malt, a hint of sweetness (I wish I had tasted more) and slightly bitter finish. Decent.

Bought a six pack of bottles Thanksgiving ’06. Pours dark brown, with light head. I found this beer to be quite drinkable.

Bottle batch 7681. Poured a red-brown with a frothy off-white head that left light lacing. The aroma with nutty yet also a slight hoppy citrus. Malty flavor of caramel with a light mix of hops. Medium body with a dry texture.
