Chocolate and fine hops in aroma, also fruity caramel tones there too. Medium bodied, mildly carbonated palate. Flavor is sweet with chocolate and hops, aftertaste has some caramel. Slightly one-dimensional, but still ok brew. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 23, 2006 Bottle from Josh (daalamar) Thanks! Pours out a brown color (shocking, i know) - not much head on it. Smell is sweet, full of malts, and nuts. Taste is similar, easy to drink, with the roasted malt flavor coming out in it pretty well. A decent brown beer that competes yet does not topple Hazelnut brown. Nice good solid bells brew though. ehhdayton (1115), USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 23, 2006 Pours a reddish brown with a nice tan head. The aroma has notes of crystal malt, nut, and fruit. Nice balance to the flavor with a nuttiness and sweetness being dominant. unclemattie (2439), Georgia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 18, 2006 Medium bodied, brown color. Malt aroma maybe nuts. Tastes of Belgium yeast. Kinda like a dubbel. Not what you would expect. blankboy (3258), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 19, 2006 Bottle shared with and courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a hazy bubbly dark amber-brown with a small diminishing tan head. Aroma of caramel malt, dark fruit, spices, brown sugar, some hops and nuts -- a hint of metal in there too. Simple and straightforward malty flavour with some nuts and a mild hoppy finish. I got some metal in the flavour as well. Medium bodied. It’s a good version of the style, it’s just not one of my favourite styles to drink. HogTownHarry (4025), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 18, 2006 Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy, my bottle. Slightly hazy deep mahogany with a smallish beige head. Sweet roast caramel/chocolate malt aroma, a little yeasty, some green hops, hints of lactose. Taste is also roast sweet malt, quite a nutty and dusty character, tries to finish dry and a little bitter. Average body, somewhat flat, lightly syrupy - for a brown, it’s okay - could have more character, but it doesn’t anger me like some do. TomDecapolis (3213), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 18, 2006 Pours a hazy brownish amber with some floaties in there. Head poured average and diminished to smaller and off white. Aroma of dark fruits, brown sugar, molasses, toasted malts, nutty, Flavor was a mix of the same more on the malty and sweet side. Very nice mouthfeel and light hop profile. I enjoyed this one. KAggie97 (2481), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jul 10, 2006 Bottle. Pours a nice tea-brown with weak lacing. Aroma is raisin with coppery cherry. Flavor features a smoky toffee with an acidic coffee finish. Palate is coating. Overall, it’s a great brew but gets low marks in that category because I found it hard to finish a 12 oz.
