First sip you are hit by the tart cherry flavor, then hints of coffee and maybe chocolate in there. Def. a stout. but not for me.

pours black with thin tan head. aroma is tart cherries, coffee, bitter chocolate, and roast malt. drinks very tart cherries upfront with some coffee and chocolate making there way in before the cherries are gone. makes for a good drink, but im also going to age some and see how it does. good stout though.

Year old bottle. Nice and tart. Very sour cherry dominant. A bit odd for me. Some coffee and chocolate makes up the base that is taken over by sourness. Sour stouts are not for me.

2008 Bottle - Thanks BrewCzar! - Pours almost black with a quickly dissipating tan head...aroma is fairly faint cherry with the typical stout coffee, dark malt and cocoa...flavour is far more bold than expected, tart ass cherries dominate the front, giving way to coffee and burnt sugar...that was an interesting one....not sure how it’s a sweet stout...

Pours to a low-foam head, very murky. The aroma is surprisingly weak, maybe a slight hint of anise notable. Strong citrus/cherry flavor that was strikingly strong given the faint aroma. Taste is acrid for a moment, then finished like a chocolate-covered cherry. I didn’t expect o like this one as much as I did.

Terrible, for a Bell’s. Sour cherry doesn’t work at all. Like bad cough syrup poured into an average stout. Will have to try the bourbon barrel aged cherry stout from Bell’s to see how different it might be.

I was disappointed with this beer. I love Stouts (they are my favorite). I also love Bells (to an extent) but this beer was a miss for me. I see a lot of people giving this a good rating and I don’t get it. Bell’s Expedition Stout was amazing and so was the Kalamazoo Stout but this was a miss for me. The aroma was borderline formaldehyde. Was a bad example from Bells.
