Commercial Description:
This unique ale begins its life as a powerful and richly sweet stout to which Michigan tart cherries are added. The resulting black brew is complex, sweet and tart with a distinct cherry finish. It will improve with cellaring. Available September - May

Slightly pickled black forest cake aroma. Clear, very dark, wispy tan head which fades quickly, pretty good label, standard US longneck bottle. Tart, medium astringency, medium sweetness. Medium bodied, this finishes out with a disjointed kriek/coffee/bitter chocolate/dubbel battle of the overtones. OK, distinctive, but not my favorite. Market Square Liquors, Killearn.

Finger-thick dark brown, slightly burgundy head cascades into thin speckling. An eclipse, this beer is jet black. The nose is bitter chocolate covered cherries with notes of coffee. The I was very disappointed by this brew’s body. It looked big, it smelled big, but it was very thin. As far as flavor is concerned, the alcohol was a little too apparent, but this was offset by subtle, tart cherry and coffee.

A nice combo of sweet and sour, although completely subsumed by the stout base. Kind of a weird combo in retrospect. Very similar to every other Bells sweet stout.

an opaque pitch black liquid with a small tan head. lots of sediment. dark chocolate aroma with a hint of cherry medicine. dark chocolate and coffee flavors with a touch of cherry. the tartness of the cherry shows up more than the actual flavor of the cherry which is probably a good thing. full bodied with a slick-oily texture. the sourness is cool. different.

Aroma – Nice dark malts with hint of cherry in the aroma.
Appearance – Reddish black in color, thin head and clear.
Flavor – Great flavor for the beer great cherry and chocolate mix with the dark malts.
Palate – Good Mouthfeel, Super texture with a dry fruit finish.
Overall – I hope to get more of this beer in the future to share with friends. This was a great beer the flavor rocked.

POured a black color with a tan head. Aroma is of sour cherries and some nice coffee aroma. Flkavor is of a lot of sour cherries, but with a weird acidic flavor which takes away from the nice stout roasted smoothness.
