They make some top notch beers, so when I don’t get something that doesn’t give me that wow factor, I’m caught off guard a little. That’s what happened with this, but it’s still a nice beer.
An aroma of sweet malts and a hint of alcohol. It pours out the color of Pepsi/Coke in my glass...brownish/reddish/purple with a light beige head. Flavors of toffee, treacle, dark fruit and alcohol, but nothing outwardly intense. Tasty, but plain. ThaBobfather (178), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

In addition to being a big fan of doppelbocks, Bell’s doesn’t disappoint. Matly and great texture. Beautiful smell and reddish pour. nefarious (203), Clarkston, Michigan, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 21, 2008 Bottle acquired via trade with polomagnifico...THANKS AGAIN RYAN!!! Another winner by Bells!!! Lacks an inviting aroma, displaying only mild sweetness, this beer makes it up in the taste. Toffee, caramel, honey, brown sugar, and molasses...all of the things that make you grow up big and tall (emphasize BIG). Color is quite amazing as well...crystal-clear crimson body with tightly packed eggshell head. A beer that sticks to the palate but isn’t syrupy. Very good stuff. GMUcrew7 (365), Mason, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 14, 2008 Pours dark reddish/copper color with a finger of quickly dissipating beige head. Aroma is caramel malts and highly alcoholic. Very sweet, molasses malty flavor, full bodied and the alcohol is well hidden. A good doppelbock, but I was hoping for a little more from one of my favorite breweries (not to mention the goats on the label remind me of my all time favorite beer the Celebrator). tedovertu (260), Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA
