| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Mar 4, 2008 12oz bottle. Deep amber, reddish-brown. color. Sweet and rich aroma. Taste is big and malty, with smooth caramel sweetness and the pungent yeast/malt characteristics throughout. This is a really nice example of a Doppelbock. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 4, 2008 Sampled this at the recent tasting. Pours a clearish maroon color with a short lived head. Smell was smoothly malty, and some dark fruitiness perhaps. Taste was creamy and tart caramel with a medium body and average carbonation. Goes down pretty easily and alcohol is hidden well. Nothing too spectacular, but also not one of my preferred styles. Speedle (262), Mid-Atlantic (Tour 2007-2008), Virginia, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 3, 2008 2008 release, I was able to get a couple singles from the local bottle shop. Pours a clear, vibrant reddish-brown with a steady carbonation. There is an initially thick, khaki colored head that diminishes to a thin layer coupled by lots of spotty lacing. Aroma is reminiscent of dark, musty fruits. Brown sugar and raisins are prevalent as well. Velvety smooth and soft mouth feel, lighter on the palate than was expected. Sweet and calm, this is a very drinkable Doppelbock. Flavor mirrors the aroma quite well. Mildly sweet with lots of plums and raisins along with a hint of banana and vanilla. Plenty of caramel, a touch nutty. The taste is rounded out by a very subtle wine characteristic. I found this to be surprisingly mild and well put together. Far too often this style can be overpowering or too sweet, but this is nicely crafted. TURDFERGUSON (1603), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 1, 2008 Bottle shared with Henning. Pours a brilliant and bright reddish brown with a small off white head. Nose is sweet and lagerish. Flavor is smooth with a bit of hops, sweet caramel, and mild alcohol. Still, it hides the alcohol pretty well. LooseCannon (931), Norfolk, Virginia, USA
