12oz bottle: Batch 7209. Poured light brownish red with a small dissipating tan head. Not as dark as the German Doppelbocks. Big malty aroma with some soy sauce and caramel. Big sweet malt taste with lots of caramel and a bit of chocolate. Mild meatiness and very slight roastiness. Nice full body. Pretty good doppelbock.

batch 7753. 53.5° right out of the cellar. Meloidin rich aroma with a light caramelly maltiness. The aroma is underwelhming. Amber colored. The taste is bread/bread crust, malty, light caramel and earthy hops. The finish is quite nice, leaving a lingering bit of maltiness and a welcome balance. Easy drinking, but seemingly lacking in the complexities that I associate with a Dopplebock. Would make a nice, if short due to the ABV, session beer.

Jeepers, have I never rated this? Love this beer. Not always available but the Blue Max had it. A wonderful caramel-toffee flavor with a touch of earthiness and hops. A complex brew from Bells. What a great brewery.

Bottled - Many thanks to Kevin. A muddy brown coloured beer with the shortest of off-white heads. The aroma is fruity and vinuous. Some woody notes and soy sauce. The taste is sweet and a little salty. Caramel; warming alcohol and sticky brown fruits. Another lovely doppelbocks.

Small tan head, retention is short lived with a little spotty lacing left behind. Hazy, amber brown color. Nose of sweet malts, toffee and caramel. Body is medium, light carbonation, lightly oily. Medium sweet malts, caramel, licorice, tobacco, mapley notes, lightly grainy. Finish is wet, lightly chocolatey and a bit stale, lightly oxydised. Thanks ross!

Pours a reddish amber with a quickly disappearing head. The aroma is of strawberries, peaches, sweet malts, and maple syrup. The flavors are pure malt. No hop flavor whatsoever, just sweet, caramel, toffee malt flavors. Very smooth mouthfeel and finishes without much, if any stickiness. Not much to say about it. Pretty good, but not great.

Bottle thanks to drewbeerme. Poured a copper color with a small white head that diminished to a ring. Sweet aroma with some fruit. Sweet brown sugar and caramel flavor up front with undertones of dark fruits. Really easy drinking, alcohol is not obvious at all.

Dark in color, brown with shades of amber with a minimal head. Nice rich aroma of sweet molasses and caramel with some nutty toffee glazed roasted malts. Taste is very smooth and warming of alcohol and caramel and faint cooked fruits and dark chocolate.
