It smells like wet two row barley with a hint of sweetness. A tart malty flavor with little carbonation. Hint of caramel a hint of nuts. This is my favorite Bell’s I have tasted.

Had this on draft at Bodega brew Pub downtown La Crosse, Wisconsin USA. Served with minimal head and less lace. NIce dark cherry color. Aroma is malty, caramel, toffee, and treacle. Flavor’s about the same but with a boozy flavor. Great body. Balanced finish.

I poured it into my Ayinger glass, straight to the top. I shook the remains to see if i would get a bit more head which resulted in nothing happening. The beer itself was highly carbonated with a taste of raisons, dry cranberries, and brown sugar. Smell is very sweet, caramel and wheat bread mix. The body was medium with a taste that fades away quick leaving you with a tingly feel. Alcohol is slightly present which is a good feel for a brew of 8%.

Batch 7209 from Shigadeyo. Served in a heavy ass dimpled goblet. Pours a dark hazy brown with a small head. Aroma is big fermented sugary malts, grains and even more malt. Flavor is super rich and sweet. The malts are candied. The yeasts are sweet. This is a wonderful Doppelbock. Thanks to Bells for being a great brewery and thanks to Craig for sharing this gem.

Bottle. Clear pretty amber color with no head. Aroma of caramel and malt. Sweet, rich, malty flavors to this one. Got thick and slick as it warmed. I like this one.

Clear ruby color with a small head. Aroma is sparse - nutty, caramel malts and some grass hops. Tasted molasses, bread and caramel. Moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Medium++ body. Not bad at all.

Dark orange in color with small diminishing head that left no lacing. Aroma was a light fruity malt, and flavor was sweet and malty with very little hops. Very good and drinkable.

Pours a clear red-amber color with a small white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, maybe some bread in there... Smooth mouthfeel, medium malt body, smallish hop finish. Can detect alcohol as well. Not a bad attempt.
