Commercial Description:
Consecrator is a traditional doppelbock-style fermented with a Bohemian lager yeast. Reddish brown in color, with a mild hop profile, Consecrator is a well balanced, full bodied beer with hints of caramel and molasses in its smooth, malty finish. Brewed for a Fat Tuesday release.

Dark reddish brown. This Dopplebock had a aweet malt and caramel taste. It was a bit thick and syrupy in the mouth. As it warmed the flavors balanced more. One thing that I did not like was a very chalky presence. It lingered after each sip.

On tap at the Muddy Pig. Color of rubyish amber. Aroma of strawberry, but more like the gummy fruit snack type rather than the real thing. Caramel, prune, sweaty, cottonish tastes. Rich malts. Consistent and full. Uninteresting, but I rarely find doppelbocks as pleasant as this.

Clear deep ruby pour with little white bubbly head. Nutty, bready malt aroma with a touch of caramel and noble hops. Sweet malty flavor with notes of molasses, caramel, toasted nuts and a hint of spicy hops in the finish. Body is a bit thin and watery when compared to Celebrator, but very drinkable non the less.

Decent. Not as sweet as other dopplebocks I’ve tried, which is fine, but there is a bit too much carbonation; and the mouthfeel and finish is too watery for my taste.

Sampled from bottle at Larry Bell’s Brickskeller event. Clear reddish/mahogany with a white head. Sweet caramel, light bread and clean yeast in the nose. Flavor has notes of brown sugar, dark caramel, a hint of smoke, molasses, cherry and some grassy noble hops. Pleasantly sweet, well balanced. Medium bodied with a smooth texture and moderate carbonation. Very good.

Malty aroma. Mahogany in color with off-white head. Sweet, malt, with heavy orange sweetness/bitterness. Medium bodied with carbonated feel. Overall another good beer from bells.

The aroma is almost nonexistant. Goes down like water with a carmely malty finish that I really enjoyed. Flavorwise it’s really enjoyable, but the overall experience leaves much to be desired.
