Oct 4, 2006 Pours very dark brown / bronze with a small tan head. The aroma has rich caramel, toffee, biscuit, light raisins and brown sugar. The body is light for the style and has fairly sharp, yet unobtrusive, carbonation. Starts with some toffee, raisins and brown sugar with a fairly thin body. The finish gets a bit yeasty and sharp - somewhat astringent. An okay doppelbock.

Sep 30, 2006 Dark tan, almost brown, with a quickly thinning head. Malty aroma with a hint of tomatoes (?). Thick and sweet. This beer is very sweet. Fortunately, the tomato aroma isn’t in thye flavor. Does hide the alcohol well.

Sep 24, 2006 Bottle. Pours a really nice clear and bubbly ruby-red with a small diminishing off-white head -- not quite what i expected a Doppelbock to look like. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, fruit and some hops. Flavour is malty, fruity, a little sugary sweet with some alcohol and a light bitter finish. Medium bodied. This was quite different then what I expected. For one I didn’t expect it to be this sweet, but either way, it was still pretty good.

Sep 18, 2006 Bottle: Pours a reddish brown with a creamy tan head that is mostly lasting leaving nice lacing. Malty aroma has hints of caramel and light hops giving it a sweet presence. Flavor was similiar and felt nice and smooth on the palate. Well balanced and very drinkable. Delicious!

Sep 13, 2006 Poured an amber color medium head pour lacing. Aroma was sweet way to sweet. Flavor was much the same. Mouthfeel wasn’t great either, to carbonated. Along side the others from this style not great.

Sep 11, 2006 Thanks to doulos for this one. Poured an amber-red brown color with a some sedimentation. Head was ok, weak retention, low to no lacing. Pretty boring looking. The aroma was one dimensional, sweet caramel. Flavor followed suit, all sweet caramel, maybe some grassiness in there. Sticky mouthfeel, somewhat thick, slightly high carbonation for the style. Uninspiring when put up against these other doppelbocks of the night: Bajuvator, Liberator, Maximator, Celebrator, Andechser.

Aug 31, 2006 Pretty red brown. Taste is malt, with little hops. Didn’t notice the 8% alcohol.

Aug 30, 2006 Having the color of apple cider and matched with the noise of apples, pears and light malt. The taste also conquers memories of fresh apples cider. Balanced mouth feel is complemented with a nice smooth malt finish Not even the hint of bitterness or alcohol.
