The taste also conquers memories of fresh apples cider. Balanced mouth feel is complemented with a nice smooth malt finish Not even the hint of bitterness or alcohol.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 28, 2006 12 oz bottle via trade with Monger (thanks james!). Small head. Pours a dark reddish brown color. Aroma has fruity notes that include cherries, plums, and pears and toffee. Sweet fruity, biscuity, malty flavors with an alcohol laden crisp semi dry finish. Light to medium bodied. Aftertaste reminds me a little of bananna or coconut, or perhaps a little of both? Fairly complex! This is a wonderful brew that i will savor each drink of. Very nice. jerc (3964), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 28, 2006 Bottle from Bella Vina in Ann Arbor. Hazy dark brown body with a brown head that fades (3+). Alcohol is prominent in the aroma but I may have let this warm up just a bit too much. Fruity raisin, sweet caramel accented malt aroma. (7+) Massively malty flavour with slight boozey notes, sweet notes of brown sugar, deep dark malt foundation. Smooth medium palate (3+). Not sure if I agree with the description that describes it as well balanced - this is all about the malt - but it is quite delicious regardless. Tankards in the cabin or wood filled pub by a roaring fire would seem to be the ideal serving suggestion. patrick767 (2052), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 28, 2006 bottle - Pours dark amber with a thin head. The big, malty aroma is an indicator of what’s to come. The flavor has strong caramel malt tones with a hint of chocolate. It’s certainly sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. The body is moderate to full. The 8% abv is well masked. There’s a hint of it in the finish. This is another very good beer from Bell’s. SledgeJr (3003), Omaha, Nebraska, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 27, 2006 In the bottle (#6656). Pours deep amber with purple undertones. Has a medium sized, but very dense off-white head. A rich straw aroma emerges within what appears to be a big alcohol nose at 8%. The beer has a surprising mustard flavor! Thick delicious candy sweetness. Coconut metabolites waft from the aspirate. Has a strong chocolate aroma and flavor. At room temperature a malty maple high alcohol nose emerges. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Aug 23, 2006 bottle. batch#7209. Aroma: Heavy malt sweetness with notes of honey and dark brown sugar. Also getting apples and a touch of vanilla. Appearance: Dark red/orange and clear. Head was very thin and dissapeared quickly and entirely. No lacing. Flavor: Toasted malt, caramel, light grapiness. Alcohol is noticeable, but not unpleasant. Palate: Medium-full bodied. Very low carbonation. Finish is almost too sweet. Overall: Pretty good, but carbonation seemed awfuly low. Pours a nice amber color with a slight off white head that dissappears quickly. Aroma of brown sugar and molasses. Taste of bourbon and caramel. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 21, 2006 Bottle, pours reddish carmel color with a quickly dissipating tan head. Aroma is pretty mild, but notes of caramel and yeast are most prevalent. Flavor is sweet caramel, molasses, and a mild funky flavor that I’ve noticed only in some Imperial Pilsners.
