From 12oz Bottle. Pours the color of hazelnut shell with a finger of creamy beige head that quickly recedes to a small off-white island, floating in a sea of soda-like carbonation. Light aromas of wheat bread are supplemented by a hoppy whiff of taragon leaves and tulip stalks. Medium bodied, almost syrupy texture with highly unique flavors of yeasty spice coupled with dark rye bread crust. Some flavors of brandy, prune, nutty almond skins, and light chocolate round out with a malty, molasses finish. Interesting how the hops are quite apparent in the nose while the malts take a back seat, but then the roles are drastically reversed during the flavor experience. Final smack of raw sugar and zuchini bread crust.

Dark red amber with beige haed that dissipates quickly. Sweet malt with bittering hops and the warmth of alcohol. Would not call this a full bodied beer, tastes good but a medium body at best.Overall a good beer, just not as bold as I would prefer. I’m a Bell’s Brewery fan, this is still a great beer but not at the top of my list for Bells.

Light escapes from the reddish-brown pour offering a decidedly sweet aroma of brown sugar, oatmeal, and berry. Palate is a bit thin and the slippery, uneven body is the one significant drawback to this doppel. Flavor, however, is more of the sweetness foretold in the nose with a lasting molasses taste that matches many of its finer German forebears. Some great qualities here, and it certainly works as a spring warmer, but it fails to come together in the end.

Bottle. Poured a somewhat fizzy cloudy red-amber with minimal head. A sweet malty aroma, typical of doppelbock. Almost two sweet upfront with a strange hoppiness that did not set well with me. Finished slightly bitter ending with a molasses and coffee lingering effect. Crisp, but thin with a tingling that seemed like a departure for the style. Interesting but not great.

Pours beautiful brown with huge head, but dissipates rather quickly without lacing. Smells like apples soaked in wine. Tastes sweet and a little tart, more apples, more wine, some vinegar, some raisins, some sugar. Carmel comes in towards the end, finishes slightly bitter and smooth. Alcohol warms, but isn’t sharp or apparent. This bottle is probably a few months old, because I have had it fresh at the Eccentric Cafe and it was tastier.

pours redish amber with almost nonexsistent head. Aroma is sweet malt and piney, resiny hops. Taste is sweet with nice hop finsh. Decent body with finish that lasts.

Copper hues in the pour with a thin, off-white head that recedes quickly to the glass. The nose is sweet and malty and not especially robust. The flavor is enjoyable: Sweet caramel and molasses and brown sugar, plum and ripe white grapes. There is some hoppiness in the background, but the malts are well on top as should be. The mouthfeel leans toward syrupy with a moderate finish. An alcohol warmth is evident at the end.

Aroma of red berries, caramel, root beer. Appears a reddish-mahogany color, with moderate effervescence of small bubbles, and with a creamy yellow-brown head that dissipates quickly. Flavor is sweet, nutty, with continuing red berry and stone fruit presence. Palate is thick and chewy. Overall, this beer is slightly less than the sum of its parts.
