Commercial Description:
Consecrator is a traditional doppelbock-style fermented with a Bohemian lager yeast. Reddish brown in color, with a mild hop profile, Consecrator is a well balanced, full bodied beer with hints of caramel and molasses in its smooth, malty finish. Brewed for a Fat Tuesday release.

Bottle at MacNiven’s, interestingly served in a tulip glass. Because of glass I could not get a good whaff of aroma until mid-beer. The body did stand up to the added scrutiny though. Dark chocolate body. Aroma of raisins and dates. Taste is smooth with lots of sweet caramel, chocolate, raisin. Did not notice any real bitterness at all, but this didn’t seem to feel imbalanced. Sweetness kept from becoming sticky.

Pours to a deep red/amber body with a tan head. The aroma is very bready, caramelly, white grapes, whole grains. The flavor is nice. Caramelized white grapes, interesting molasses component. The palate is rich, creamy, noticeable alcohol, overly attenuated, perhaps a touch tough to drink without letting it sit in the mouth and let the palate adapt to it. Overly carbonated. Unfortunate components of the palate weigh out over the creaminess. There’s just something that I don’t like in this. I can’t put my finger on it.

So lovely. Nice balance. Malt and hops. Even in Michigan, we don’t get this one enough. Praise Bell’s.

Pours a clear light brownish color with a thin almost tan head. Aroma is of fruit, caramel, and molasses. Flavor starts the same heavy on the caramel and molasses. Has a sweet flavor that lingers awhile on the palate. Finishes off with a little alcohol but not overpowering. A decent doppelbock but certainly not my favorite.

Thin head which dissipates rather quickly. Light carbonation. Sweet caramel and wine aroma. Lots of grapes, honey and black cherry along with some other dark fruit in there. Color is a cloudy dark crimson brown with plenty of floaters. Sweet and smoth in the mouth. Palate is a little thinner than expected. More vinuous notes along with some caramel and just a hint of tart dryness. Finish is actually a little dry which is unexpected and pretty clean. Needs a little more malt body. Noticable alcohol presence which warms as it goes down. Another fine product from Bells.

12oz - 7209 - Aroma is earty wet malt, carmel, and a touch of hops. Pours reddish brown with small head and decent lacing. Flavor is sweet molasses, carmel, and wet malt with a little nuttiness. Palate is super sticky. A tasty brew.

Thanks for sharing yet another Bells Mike! Deep mahogony body with just a sprinkling of mocha coloured dust around the edges. Roasted malt aromas, with burnt brown sugar, candy, and molasses. Roasted hazlenuts, malt sweetness, burnt sugars, and chestnut are the flavours. SMooth and drinkable, with ABv not detectable. Good. Thanks Mike!

bottle. rich mahogany coloured body with a small white head. the pleasant aroma has some herbal flowery grass, candy, caramel, and cookies. flavour is a nice touch, not too sweet as can be found in many of this style, not entirely rich though but a rather soft quaffable body with flavours of chocolate, bread, and caramel. finishes with some sugariness. pretty good.
