Flavor of rich malt that is candeyish, fruity, toasty, and oh so good. Lightly winey palate, a good dose of bitterness. Substancial. Damn that is a long, juicy, flavorful finish. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 26, 2005 Aroma is of cinnamon and apples, darkly sweet. Mouthfel is thick and sweet, a bit syrupy. Sweet and dark malts; caramel and semi-sweet chocolate. Apple cider aftertaste with some whispers of alcohol. Reminds me of molasses. Indy (87), Hopkins, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 8, 2005 Doppelbocks are my favorite lager style..actually just about the only lager that I really like. Everytime I try a new one, however, I’m a little disappointed that it’s not a Salvator. This one is very good, but it still doesn’t quite match up to that ideal. Non-existent head, slightly cloudy, aromas of chocolate, caramel, and toffee...slightly astringent. Fizzy, yet still thick and a little chewy. Sweet flavor, less depth than other doppelbocks. Though better than many other dopelbocks, I honestly expected more from Bell’s. ahole (38), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 5, 2005 No head, fizzy like soda. Looks like a darker old english. Tastes much different. Sweet, slightly thick. Not too shabby.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 30, 2005 I smell chocolate, toffee, and a bit of coffee off the bat. The head is not really impressive. It’s dark brown with red/orange hues. A very pleasant, chocolaty taste. I really enjoyed this brew. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 27, 2005 Bottle 12oz - Murky lightbrown pour with lots of sea monkeys floating around. Average foamy offwhite head dissipates quickly. Aromas of carmel malts and brown sugar. Flavor is sweet malts, caramel, some brown sugar, and toffee. This is quite tasty. On the palate it is full bodied yet carbonated enough to give it great mouthfeel. It warms a little at the end due to it’s 8%. Definitely not Ayinger, but a pretty good second for me. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 26, 2005 Murky light brown and orange amber color. Medium sized foamy head. Malty, caramel aroma. Sugar sweet and caramel malt flavors entwine, with a slightly fruity wine-like finish. Mouthcoating palate. pobenohne (504), Northern Liberties, Pennsylvania, USA
