[Bottle] Pours a nice caramel brown with ruby tones and a diminishing beige head. Aroma is lager yeast, lots of raisins and other dark fruits, and caramel malt. There’s also a touch of citric hops evident as well. Flavor is initially moderately sweet, lots of caramelly malt and lager yeast. Slightly metallic, a hint of saltiness on the finish, but not bad. There is also a slight hint of hops on the finish with a touch of tart bitterness. Overall I’d say par for the style.

12oz bottle shared by Moggman. Amber to light brown pour with a medium off-white head. Malty aroma of caramel and lager yeast. Caramel sweetness in the flavor with some dark fruit and enough hops so that it doesn’t finish too sweet (a pet peeve of mine with many d-bocks).

Bottle. Pours brown/amber with a thin white head. Aroma is malty with notes of brown sugar and some floral notes. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of caramel and fruits with a slight bitterness and alcohol heat in the finish.

12 oz bottle courtesy of the Binnys singles rack (Orland Park, IL). Pours a nice dark red copper, largely transparent, well carbonated, with moderate beige head that dissipates to a film, minimal lacing. Aromas are a touch malty, pushing some nice brown sugar and a touch toastiness, faint floral hoppiness. Initial is much richer, pushing carmel and toffee maltiness, strong, yet lighter bodied than you’d expect with some subtle nuttiness and syrup (maple?) feel. Very light hopping, showing faint florals but largely being a spendid malt display. A bit strong in the finish for me, pushing some booziness and faint spice with the copious malt, but enjoyable and a change of pace from a hop-tastic world I normally live in. Cheers!

12 oz bottle. Pours a golden brown color. Smells malty with caramel, very sweet. Taste like a mix of malts and fruits. The alcohol aftertaste is apparent but it gives the final touch.

Pours an amber color. The nose is a malty caramel, wood, yeast, and some fruit notes. Comes across the palate as caramel malt, yeast, a hint fruit and some subtle hops on the finish.

One of the holes in my Bells collection. This is a nice d-bock, not a malt bomb like some, but well balanced and tasty. Another thumbs up for Bells.

Bottle, a dark amber/brown with a quickly dissipating, tan head. The smell is mostly malt and sweet caramel, with hints of nut and raisin. A very well balanced, complex beer, with an average length finish. Larry Bell made no effort to hide the alcohol profile in this one, making it fairly robust, with a very mild hop finish.
