Jackson described as a "moreish beer." It is impossible to take a single sip and not return to the glass almost immediately. As the ABV suggests, this is not a session beer, but if you need to loosen up a bit, or are seeking a little comfort and warmth, this is the perfect beer. The beer has a beautiful mouth-feel that lingers, pours a dark\, dense brown with an intensely contrasting, compact head. While the hops are restrained and the malt forward and enveloping it is well balanced. This Dobbelbock is a perfect replacement during lent. It is also a fine companion for meals that we may seek when weary and hungry. This beer can stand up to the richest of dishes, but is also a fine beer when you need to round out your meal with a touch of hops and full-malty richness. daknole (2984), Plantation, Florida, USA

Nice rich amber pour with a very small head. Aroma is malty as hell. Caramel, wood, yeast, and some fruit tones. Flavor is caramel malt, yeast, a little fruit and some good hops on the finish. shawnm213 (954), South Bend, Indiana, USA

Great late winter/spring beer. As described - flavors of caramel, molasses and a malty finish. One of the things I noticed was the somewhat astringent/clean finish and virtually no lacing to speak of. This would be a fantastic beer, fresh from the keg - but in bottle form, I’m thinking its a bit underwhelming. Still good though. HolidayBeerGuy (50), Detroit, Michigan, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 1/5 | 16/20 | Mar 19, 2009 Bottle, pours to an opaque, dark amber/brown with a quickly dissipating, tan head. Nose is prominently malt and sweet caramel, with hints of nut and raisin. There’s a hefty caramelized malt character in this brew that’s just sweet enough to be a great desert drink. Bell’s made no effort to hide the alcohol profile in this one, making it fairly robust, with a very mild hop finish. I’ll be revisiting this one again. tjthresh (1778), Greenfield, Indiana, USA
