reddish brown with mild head. midle to moderate carbonation. very malty nose. flavor is of rich malt, crystal cara-munich and everything else. actually a reasonable balance with a little bittering hops coming through, however there is a degree of cloying unmalted barley that is present and detracts from the overall enjoyment. a solid but not exemplary dopplebock

Draught at the Big Hunt. Ruddy brown with a tan head. malty, molasses and dried fruit aroma. Rich dried fruit flavors, with date and cherry, and brown sugar and caramel. A bit of alcohol, but mostly smooth. Medium-full bodied. Pretty easy to sip on, but not the kind of beer you want to drink a few of.

Aroma is bread and grass, rather understated for such a flavorful beer. Bottle. A beautiful red-orange with short-lived light tan head. Candied fruit, a bit of mandarin orange in sweet maltiness. Just enough hops let you know that this is an American beer. The mouth is smooth and fizzy with a slight astringent alcohol bite. This beer avoids being cloying, perhaps due to the hop balance. The finish holds up so you won’t wish it would go away.

330 mL. Pours a beautiful clear, deep orange caramel color with a small, yellow head that fades to nothing. Spotty to no lacing. Aroma is upfront more reminiscent of an ultra-sweet pale lager than a doppelbock but with an addition of caramel malt. Taste is unbalanced with lots of cloying malty sweetness, caramel, and brown sugar with a very subtle, dry hoppy bite towards the end. Dry finish. 8% is well hidden. I am really missing the roasty, smokey complexities of a good doppelbock here. Very disappointing.

12oz bottle. Pours copper with a foamy tan head. Nice tan lacing lasts for a long time. Lots of carbonation. Aroma is of spice, caramel, malt, yeast, and wheat. Taste is of malt, spice, caramel, yeast, and alcohol. Very bitter after taste due to the alcohol. Only the most minimal presence of hops. Very earthy taste overall. Body seems light, and goes down easy. Nothing special, but it isn’t bad.

Bottle. Pretty copper color pour with a two finger tan head that fades quickly. Aroma is sweet malts, toasted caramel, brown sugar, ripe fruits and candy. Flavor is malty, quite sweet, some soft nutty flavors, dark bread, and hints of wood and an odd but good spice in the far aftertaste (almost like saffron). Light alcohol comes through in spots as well. Body is medium to medium-full. There’s some lively carbonation keeping things honest. Ends with more caramel, sweet malts, candy, spice. Yummy ! Thank You Bells

Bottle. Pours a brown body with a tan head. Sweet malty profile, lagered notes, a hint of smoke and toasted malt, a mild etoh warming with some notes of fruit. A moderate mouth feel with molasses and some light bitterness to boot. decent.
