| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 29, 2009 Not too much aroma, but a nice color: kind of syrupy brown. Flavor was some caramel, nuttiness, and roasted malts. Enjoyable, nothing offending, a nice warm winter beer that I would drink again. douglas88 (1605), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 11, 2009 Bottle thanks to goldtwins. Pours a clear mahogany color with a nice thick light brown head. The aroma is really nice; sweet malts, some fruity notes, caramel also. The taste is smooth and very nice; sweet malts, some nice fruitiness and loads of caramel and sweeter flavors. A really nice beer, a bit boozy, but I enjoy that actually. A nice medium mouthfeel. Somewhat creamy. timsilvia32 (447), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 10, 2009 2008 bottle, so about 9 months on this one. Orange/amber pour, a very small amount of white head. Sweet aromas, malt, toffee and caramel. It is a pretty sweet beer with flavors matching the aroma. Maybe slight raisin along with the sweets. A fair amount of carbonation in this medium bodied brew. There is just enough hops to give a slight kick at the end. To me, this makes it a good version of the style. Could probably use just a bit more hopping, which is unusual to say for a Bell’s brew. rayg1 (438), Ft. Mill, South Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 2, 2009 A bottle shared by Ross, thanks bud. This was one that was bottled in March of 2006. So with almost three years on it here goes. Pours out with a deep brown color and little to no head. The smell is very sweet, toffee, and caramel all over the place. Taste is full of sweetness, it was almost too sweet for me but I suppose most bocks are. Molassas and brown sugar dominate this beer, if you expect anything else you will be disapointed. Still not too bad, just a touch too sweet for my tastes. FunkyBrewster (486), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 18, 2008 Pours a clear copper reddish brown with a small off white head. Aroma is heavily malty with a rich nuttiness and some honey and a hint of spices. Flavor starts out very rich with caramel malts and a lot of toffee. Buttery in the middle before picking up some spiciness in the finish and a slight bitterness. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Very nice rich dopplebock. Creamy mouth feel and balanced flavors coyotehunter (551), , Michigan, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 2, 2008 pours reddish brown, thin head, with an aroma of fruit and malt. I pick up a hint of apple such as red delicious or johnathon, but, I have been doing some testing tonite, so I may be off.I also taste some citrusy hops. I agree with 17thfloor, in that I pick up a taste of grenadine. very smooth mouthfeel, with light carbonation. Once again Bells has yet to give me a crappy beer. bbbrew (183), Washington DC, USA
