BigBeer45 (676), Troy, Michigan, USA Feb 23, 2009 Draft at Eccentric Cafe, has a honey gold pour with light browns, some darker hues of orange, a white bubbled head that disappeared quickly to a small ring, aromas of malt, some citrus, faint fruit and caramel, flavor of light bread and some fruit, honey and fruit sweetness, some bitterness on the palate at the finish, alcohol taste is evident in the first sip and stays that way, alcohol is not really overbearing but you know it is there, mouth feel was pretty full and heavy, and I could tell this was not a thirst quencher, it certainly feels and looks more viscous than the Oberon. Just a guess but I think because the malt flavor was light the alcohol came through as strong as it did, if there was more toasted malt flavor the alcohol might not have been so pronounced. coyotehunter (542), , Michigan, USA Oct 30, 2008 Finally found the paper I wrote this down on a month ago. found it on tap at the Eccentric Cafe I believe the 11th of October. Pours a little darker than the original Oberon...thin vanishing head..
Oranges and alcohol....its all I taste. Not bad, but could be improved. Rastacouere (5551), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Oct 9, 2008 On tap @ Eccentric Café. Great-looking peaches dark golden-orange with a light 1cm head. Inviting colour, strong effervescence. Heavy on the wheatiness (albeit not heavy bodied). A sweet and fruity offering that does not feel like 9.5%. Apricot and passion fruit come out more in a creamy than juicy way. The soft rooty and earthy whispers towards the end manage to attenuate the sweetness, but fail to collaborate any refreshment which is really lacking in a fruity wheat beer, as strong as it is. kmweaver (2396), Sebastopol, California, USA Sep 20, 2008 Draft @ the Eccentric Cafe. Pours a very bright, slightly hazy orange color; thin perimeter of small white bubbles. Reserved aroma, showing only basic sugar and oranges; cardboard and sugar. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: lots of orange-tinged sweetness and chewy sugars, with a touch of wheat underneath; mostly, however, a constrained and overly sweet, sticky, orangey beer; doesn’t warrant the level of alcohol (well-hidden, but so is the taste). Disappointing. Medium finish: dried oranges, stickiness, and basic sweet sugars; ends with sweetness.
