| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Sep 6, 2004 2004 GTM. High alcohol aroma. Thick, murky, not much head. Off-white head. Knock your socks off flavor. Eccentric pretty much sums it up. Tangy, sour, high alcohol. Almost like a barley wine. Tastes like there is wine poured into the beer. Both the aroma and flavor are very complex. Not sure I really like it. jtw (944), farmington, Michigan, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 23, 2004 Updated: Feb 8, 2005found out from the man, larry bell himself, that my bottle was from approximately 1997. quite flat, but still a faint pssh on opening. murky brown. tons of spice and caramel malt, smells like worcestershire sauce, celery-salt and melon, red wine, hops. very piney mouthfeel, it can’t really be 11%. feels a little like cough syrup, but in a warm tingly way. very mellow; this beer must have aged very well. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 19, 2004 Thanks to BBB63 for this one. First of all, I cannot believe this was 11% alcohol? The pour was turbid deep brown, with a minimal off-white head. The aroma created a multitude of olfactory perceptions....malt, hops, spices, fruit, including melon and prune, cabernet, cognac, and even scotch (definitely some peaty aroma). The taste was malty, hoppy, nice mouthfeel, with a spicy, fruity, hard-spirit element at the finish. Very nice complexity. I noticed many flavors and aromas in this one. Off-white creamy head, amber/brown and cloudy body. Very spicy aroma that jumps right out at you. Quite like the LF Holiday Spice with some chocolate and corriander. The flavor adds a noticable hop component that is quite good, and closes with an orange sourness. Slightly creamy and soft mouthfeel. 8 / 4 / 7 / 3 / 14

Nice sour spice aroma. Chocolate. Sour piney corriander. Green spices (rosemary or thyme?). Some unidentifiable spicy cologne. Great. Flavor is big too... chocolate hops. More spice. White pepper. Very smooth, coating mouthfeel, great complexity. I love this. Ungstrup (15440), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 8, 2004 An unclear brown beer with a small disappearing orange head. The aroma is of licorice, pine, and medicin - quite weird. The flavor is dominated by pine but also contains a lot of hops, which gives it a lovely bitter end. The mouthfeel is soft. madsberg (5097), Søborg, Denmark

Chocolate, spices, hops and flowers in the aroma. Resinous, hoppy and light medicinal flaovur. Has a nice mouthfeel. Has a distinct lasting bitterness in the and. Thanks Raindog for the trade.
