Commercial Description:
The darkest beer we make; this Imperial stout contains double the malt and five times the hops of our Kalamazoo stout and is perfect for cellaring as its complex character will evolve over time. Available October-March.

So, we meet at last...the infamous Expedition Stout. Pours a deep, rich black-brown with a very thick light brown head. Sedimentation is noticeable, even in a beer as dark as this. Bottle swirled. Aroma is stout in and of itself, giving off an almost palpable malt aura. Smells like semi-sweet chocolate and a roasty double espresso. Incredibly thick, almost burnt maltiness dominates the majority of the flavor profile, with some pine/spice hop flavor, and alcohol adds a nice little kick to the finish, along with a bit of yeast and a nice malty fruitiness. Mouthfeel is unlike any beer I've yet tried, like a melted hot fudge sundae, or heavy cream. Full-bodied is so much understatement as to be laughable. Intense and unique beer.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark brown/black color with a very light brown head. Aroma explodes with the scent of dark chocolate and espresso with a hint of cherry on the end. Heavily bodied, almost liking drinking a meal. Finishes bitter like an espresso. An extraordinarily intense and delicious beer.

Bottle. Pours very near black with a tan head. Roasted aroma with loads of coffee, wood and a bit of cherry like fruit. Flavor starts sweet with caramel, cherry, and dark chocolate, then moves to coffee and wood, and finished on the roasted coffee that is present throughout with some additional hoppy bitterness. Incredible.

Poured a very very dark brown with a thin brown head. Aroma was strong with coffee and chocolate, with a little bit of hops in there. The taste has a sweet start with a stong cofee-bitter finish. The palate was syrupy and coated the throat on its way down. This is an excellant beer, but not an everyday drink.
