Indra (1833), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Feb 2, 2007 12oz. bottle. Batch# 7673. Interesting aroma, being lightly roasty and sweet, with hints of dark chocolate, molasses, flowers, grainy, toasty malts (perhaps even slightly burnt) and a very faint oaky, vinous touch deep in the background. Some yeast in the nose, as well. Impenetrable black color, fully opaque with a fading, tan head and minimal lacing. Flavor is about what the aroma would suggest, roasty and full of semi-sweet chocolate character, a degree of tanginess noted here, along with more molasses on the finish and suggestions of black walnut, fig and a certain unfamiliar spiciness. Smoothly carbonated and drying mouthfeel, with a long-lingering roasty aftertaste. Body is medium-full. This is certainly not a Dubbel style, nor does it fit any other style that I’m familiar with. Seems most like a Foreign Stout/Belgian Ale hybrid, though. Worth a try, but definitely not mind-blowing.
Sparky27 (522), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jul 2, 2008 Bottle courtesy of BOLTZ7555. Pours an opaque black with minimal head. Nose is really mild with hints of dark fruits and malt. Taste is mellow also with figs, roasted malts and burnt toffee with a slight hop finish. Mouth feel is on the thin side. Interesting beer – thanks Jason! Rciesla (712), Brick City, New Jersey, USA May 2, 2008 Nice Bottle Art. Dark brown, and dark fruit. Plums and smoked flavor and maybe some chocolate. Good offering. BOLTZ7555 (463), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Apr 21, 2008 Really enjoyed this...well crafted and extremely tasty. This beer pours a dark mahogany with a ring for a head but leaves a bit of spotty lacing. Aroma and flavor are dark fruit, molasses, and a hint of belgian chocolate. Small yeasty bits floated throughout but were only visible when nearing the edge of the glass due to its dark color. Yum...have loved everything from this brewery!!! dukefan (163), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 17, 2008 Drank at the Eccentric Cafe, 2007. Nice Belgian Dubbel. Taste of raisins and dark fruits. ebrowner88 (113), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Apr 6, 2008 On tap at Bell’s in Kalamazoo. Great for a dubbel. Not my favorite style. Good maltiness and then alcahol. Reminds me of a nice trappist style with a harsher finish
