Taste of a full bodied stout with the taste of coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, and cocoa. | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 8/20 | Dec 2, 2007 Big beefy black stout. Swirl this stuff around to unsettle the gunk on the bottom and its the best pour ever for a tremendous visual presentation! Rolling top half of brew. Coffee aroma, what else? Big black cold coffee impact. Once you go black you’ll never come back is what my dad used to say! Strong like too much coffe was used to brew it. If you heat this up I think you can repair the cracks in the asphlt driveway with it. Quite strong and suppressive. On par with Founders breakfast stout. Finish is, well, what else, youwser youwser big black coffe and bitter need not be said. Probably should be rated as an imperial stout, not just plain stout! bag (103), Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Dec 1, 2007 Looked beautiful poured out of the bottle. Nice, tan, long-lasting head with dark brown color. Coffee aroma (as expected), and terrific coffee taste. I had this as an after-dinner drink (in place of the typical hot coffee) and it really hit the spot. For me, this neared perfection. I wish I would have bought more than one, so I’ll go back for more on Monday. Zinister (1207), Houston, Texas, USA

Gorgeous dark black with wonderful head. Nose of coffee, dark chocolate and toffee. Taste is a bit chalky, but has a great chocolate, coffee bean flavor that leaves a nice bittering on the end. Nice beer. NicerInPerson (337), North of Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Nov 29, 2007 The aroma was strong espresso coffee roast with an acidic coffee note and a strong backbone of dark chocolate. Some caramel was notable in the aroma and a bit of a grassy nature. The beer poured into the glass pitch black with a brown frothy and moderate head which fell ultra slowly to lace the glass. The flavor was very nice with coffee, espresso and any other coffee drink that comes to mind melded with dark bitter chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor was quite bitter from coffee, grains and more grassy and resinous hops in the background. Any sweetness was quickly mitigated by the bitterness. The finish was dry and nice with lasting coffee into the aftertaste and beyond. The body was just above medium-full and the carbonation was moderate. On the palate the beer was nice and creamy. A great stout!

Aroma of freshly ground coffee beans. Fresh coffee dominates the flavor, slight hints of chocolate and a somewhat dry, tart finish. Very easy to drink. Thanks to Ryan for hooking me up.
