This is the strongest coffee stout I can remember. Strong smell and taste. This is a dark roast for sure. :) I don’t taste one ounce of alcohol. Pitch black color. Long lingering coffee roast finish. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 15, 2007 12 oz bottle from Sam’s, Durham. Man, yet another killer - and highly distinct - stout from Bells. It’s got a very full body, with a really abundant mouthfeel that distinguishes it happily from some fairly thin coffee stouts out there. But the aroma is killer, and the flavor even better, with rich bitter chocolates blending seamlessly with potent malts and extremely strong roast coffee (tastes more like Italian than Sumatran if you ask me, but what the hell). Kudos again, Bells! DeweyDell (157), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 13, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a bubbly tan head and minimal lacing. Aroma of cold coffee/used coffee grounds... probably the intended effect, but strange because used coffee grounds generally smell like something you wouldn’t want to put in your mouth. Tastes really nice though... strong coffee taste backed by dark chocolate. Definitely good stuff. DrHomolka (731), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 13, 2007 12oz bottle, batch 8151. Pours pretty dark black with a nice foamy, light brown head. Aroma is really nice, fresh, roasty coffee. Mmm. Not much else in the aroma but I’m not complaining. One of the better coffee aromas I’ve encountered, right on par with Founder’s Breakfast. Taste is strong coffee with a chocolate finish. Palate is about average - medium bodied. Could be thicker but not bad. Certainly satisfies my craving for a coffee stout, which I’ve had lately. Another very well done beer from Bell’s. ucusty (1921), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Oct 7, 2007 Black body with a small chocolate brown head. Smells like coffee grounds and egg shells. Odd coffee grounds carries over to the flavour, dominating over sweet malt. Smooth medium palate. I don’t know if this bottle was old or if I just really did not care for this one, but it did not do much for me at all. miketd (685), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
