| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 7, 2007 This isn’t for the weak hearted. There is an extremely strong burnt coffee taste. That being said, I love it!
Pours dark, with a nice tan laced head. You can smell the roasted coffee from the first pour. The first taste is an immediate blast of strong java, then smooths out with the alcohol and co-mingled chocolate. There is a strong roasted java taste left on the palate after every drink. Although the coffee taste kind of kicks you in the mouth, it’s quite drinkable. I’ve had a whole growler of this beer. A nice stout to occasionally drink, but not something I would put in the weekly rotation. If you like coffee stouts this is a must try. VegDisc41 (42), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 6, 2007 Bottle. Poured black with dark caramel head. Smells of lots of chocolate, malt and coffee. Tastes like more of the same with coffee beans in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel was pleasant. Delicious. bboven (103), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 1, 2007 This beer got me started brewing java stout for myself. The coffee flavor is a bit too strong; I usually brew with half the recommended coffee and get a great stout. A good reference point. b33r (363), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 1, 2007 Black in color with small medium brown head and nice lacing. Aroma was as expected, filled with roasty coffee notes and a little fruity. Flavor was very nice, coffee wasn’t overwhelming. Good balance of roasted flavors, coffee, chocolate, and still a little sweet. Aftertaste reminded me of nachos for some reason- corn flavor maybe? Still really good. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 30, 2007 Sampled with stegosaurus at Issac newtons. Black pour with a coffee//roasted aroma with hints of mild fruit. Heavy coffee taste with a roast finish. I don’t like a heavy coffee taste but this was damn good. jameswolfe (143), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 30, 2007 Very thick and black with a small tan head. Very strong aroma of cappucino. Tastes just like it smells. If you ever had starbucks cappucino, imagine that mixed with a good stout. I think the taste is a little too strong and bitter, but its a very unique beer that everyone should try. GeneralGao (3078), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 29, 2007 12 oz bottle. Poured a thick, opaque black color. Head was thick and khaki in color with good retention and lacing. Smelled of chocolate and coffee. Flavor was similar with the addition of toasted bread. Light roasty bitterness on the tongue. The only detractor was an occasional whiff of dry dog food. Otherwise pretty good.
