Ungstrup (11378), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 5, 2005 A black beer with a nice dark chocolate brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of fresh brewed coffee and chocolate. The flavor is sweet with powerful notes of coffee combined with notes of oil and chocolate, leading to a dry roasted end. omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 17, 2003 Bottled, thanks hopsrus!!
Just what I needed to wake me up after a long session with incredible beers. Very black. And... coffee. Loads of coffee. The aroma is all about coffee. The mouthfeel sweet and creamy and nicely rounded, and the tarry, bitter finish is like eating from the bottom of a cup of turkish coffee. I wouldn't say balanced, but I sure like it. Papsoe (10359), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 3, 2006 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours completely black and opaque with a creamy, beige head. Extremely ashy, burned aroma - as if this was brewed on an emptied ashtray. Medium-bodied again with very burned malt and notes of both licorice and chocolate. Lightly bitter finish. 030306 Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Mar 13, 2002 Updated: Jul 27, 2008My first rate of this was overly harsh - I thought the beer was, too. Very dark brown. Very coffeeish aroma with light nuts. Big beany taste with lots of chocolate syrup character. Quite sweet, despite the heavy coffee. I’m still not crazy about it, because I don’t usually like coffee stouts anyway, but it’s a decently made beer and gets a substantial upgrade. joergen (6529), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 4, 2006 Bottle.
