Aroma is lots of chocolate and sweet malt. Flavor starts as bittersweet chocolate and a little caramel, then finishes with some roasty malt/ hop bitterness. soccer290 (137), Highland Park, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 19, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a stout-like motor oil black, with a half finger high tan head. Smells of chocolate, caramel, malt, quite pleasant actually. Tastes of roasted chocolate, what I guess is molasses, and a hint of caramel. Goes down smooth, but not as full-bodied as I would hope for in a stout. Good, but nowhere near as good as Bells’ Expedition Stout is. watson1977 (273), , Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 19, 2009 pours a deep black with a thick mocha head. aroma is of malted chocolate...like whoppers...with a hint of coffee to it. flavor is roasty with a touch of smoke, some chocolate, and molasses. also a hint of a metallic taste. nice creamy moutfeel with a roasty finish that has that metallic quality to it... popephred (193), Plainfield, Illinois, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Feb 18, 2009 Poured from the bottle into a standard pint glass. Pour produced an opaque, black-brown body topped by a thick, frothy head of dark tan foam. Thick smell of coffee with hints of anise, along with a thick creamy texture and rich roasted coffee flavor make this stout a beer that eats like a meal. I think that the only thing that prevents this from being a perfect stout is that the bitter, roasted coffee flavor lasts a little too long on the palate. Iceman82 (27), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 17, 2009 Another bottle courtesy of my beer director. Pours black in color with a nice tan colored head. Surprised at how much head developed. Aromas of caramel, coffee, molasses, and chocolate swarm from this glass. Upon tasting, it wasn’t as heavy as I expected. Huge flavors of chocolate and espresso, dark malt, molasses and a light nuttiness. Just a great, easy drinking stout!! jkwalking05 (1485), Arlington, Texas, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 15, 2009 12 oz bottle pours dark with small head. The flavors are so well balanced and it seems you get a taste of the molasses and chocolate with almost no taste of ABV. This is the first Bell’s I have had a gift from my son Chicago Bear. can’t help but give this beauty top grades. garthicus (1307), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
