DARK BREW WITH AN NICE FINSH TASTE OF COFFEE AND A DRY FINISH THIS IS A VERY GOOD STOUT SMOOTH MOUTH FEEL TONS OF FLAVOR

Pours dark with no head. This pops with a chocolate, roasted coffee, and black licorice flavor. Finishes moderately bitter. One of the easiest drinking stouts i’ve had. I’ll look for this one again.

On tap in my kegerator. Picked up 1/4 keg @ Total Wine & More in Springfield, VA. They regularly have Bell’s 1/4 kegs. Dark as night, but medium alcohol content. Dark head which seemed unusual. Good aroma. Taste of anise, dark coffee, and burnt toast to give a bit of bitterness. Great mouth feel and not too chewy. I don’t like watery dark beers. Filling beer, not ideal for a hot summer day. Great with a winter meal.

Not bad. Gets easier to drink the more you drink it. Very dark in color. LOts of flavor and smells coming out of this beer.

12oz bottle. Pours a deep black with a thin brownish head. Aroma is rich and sweet, with aromas of anise, molasses, chocolate, and roasted malt. Taste is creamy and full, with a mellow and dry flavor of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, and spice. An amazingly balanced and drinkable stout.

12 oz. bottle from Vintage Cellar. Aromas of chocolate and molasses. Opaque brown/black color with a lively dark tan head. Near full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is coffee, dark roasted malt, and a bit of chocolate. Not getting molasses. Finish is surprisingly dry and no more bitter than coffee. Smooth and good tasting, though a sour note seems to come forth after awhile. If there’s anise, I am not getting it.

12oz. brown bottle with no date, poured into a pint glass. This beer is like squid ink, black without any light penetration. A thick, fluffy, chocolate milk head leaves a heavy lacing behind. A very mild beer on the nose. Chocolate malt and currants are most distinguishable. As I drank, I began to pickup a smoky backdrop the deeper my nose got into the glass. The currant sweetness fades quickly to leave a long roasted coffee bean aftertaste that just sticks to the back of the throat. A tad bit too long for me. It’s a heavy, creamy, medium carbonated stout. Great balance. This is a definite sipper that grew on me. I decided to hold off on tasting notes until I had a second later in the week. The aftertaste is a bit much, but the subtle nose and delicate palate made up ground for me. This would probably pair well with sweet desserts to help cut that bitter closing.

Bottled. Oil black, opaque colour. Tan film on top. Nice aroma of sweet honey combined with roasted malt and chocolate. Flavour was more coffee plus licorice and gentle smoke. Great stout.
